Default GAP not honoring price adjustments for promotional sale? True?

I returned a bunch of stuff for DD today since most of it was too big. I said I wanted a price adjustment on the rest since their additional 25% off sale started on Thursday. Can anyone vouch if this is the case? The guy today said they scan the receipt and any eligible items will show the deduction. Don't they do a return and rebuy for the items? TIA!

ETA: the stuff I wanted the adjustment on was bought last Sun and Mon so within the last week.

I don't know what their official policy is, but I would buy the items at the discounted price and return them with the old receipt if I had to. 25% is alot!!

Thanks. I would do that if I didn't already remove tags and wash the items I am keeping. I asked at one GAP and the person there told me I could get a price adjustment (didn't have the receipts with me that day) but the one I went to today said they couldn't do it. I may try another Gap.

I don't know if this sale is special, but I got a price adjustment on a mark-down about 3 weeks ago, without issue.

I can see how they wouldn't because the sale price doesn't ring up automatically in the register. So, they ring up the item and then manually take off 25%. Because of that, the register isn't going to recognize that the item price has been reduced, KWIM? However, it is worth a try.

If they have the same items in the same size you can still buy and return. Just rebuy the new stuff, then take it back with the old receipt. And you might get lucky and find a store that will do the price adjustment, you never know!

Oh, duh! I get what the pp was saying now about returning with my other receipt! Yeah, I could do that but it I don't know that I want to make the effort into going to different Gaps to find all these items. Seemed like each one I went to had different stuff.
I may try one Gap to see if I can persuade someone to do the price adjustment thing. If not, oh well, I still got the items for a good price. :) Thanks for your response :)

I tried to get a price adjustment during the sale too, and they said they wouldn't do it. I didn't push because I'd taken the tags off too...
