My dd will be 1 on Halloween this year. We thought of putting her in a birthday cake costume with a candle hat. I haven't been able to find anything like this on-line so far. I thought about calling our local senior center to see if any ladies there are skilled sewers and could make her an outfit. Anyone have any ideas for this? I was thinking felt material for this and then we could tack down colored felt on white for the icing design, but I don't know that it would retain the "cake" shape. I'd like to use something kind of flexible for her comfort though. Any help is appreciated!!

I think that's the cutest idea ever! :) Is she walking yet? I found this really cute costume for a bigger kid, made with fabric draped over hula hoops:

Hi - congrats on your little one's big milestone. You and I had the same idea, as my DD will turn 1 on Halloween as well. I am going to attempt to make her a costume using the sewing machine my Grandma left me. I am going to use felt and some sort of ring or tubing to hold the shape. I will make it like a tube on the inside with shoulder straps to hold it up. I expect her to be walking then as she is very close now. And she's on the tall side (already 31") so I think I can manage 3 small tiers. If you want to chat about it more, we can chat privately if you like. I hope it turns out because it's a great idea.
