Default Somewhat OT -- How do you dress with large breasts?

I'm normally full-figured, but not huge; but now that I'm BFing, I AM huge in the chest. And I'm having trouble finding flattering clothes to fit.

I know I could wear T-shirts and sweatshirts, but I really prefer tailored styles, button-down shirts, etc. I have one nursing blouse I quite like; it rides up above the breasts, but doesn't look too bad because of the style. I tried to buy another, though, and it does the same thing and looks awful.

Can anyone help? What styles of tops should I look for? Are there any attractive brands of clothing for large-breasted women? I hope I'm not going to be stuck either wearing T-/sweatshirts or sewing my own clothes until I wean this little guy (which will be at least another seven months).

I"m personally not a fan of button downs. I much prefer pullover type tops. Since I'm frequently hot, I also like layering. V necks are nice, as are boat necks or ballet necks with three quarter sleeves. Three quarter sleeves are my new friends.

Nordy's has some really great long sleeved Ts that I would layer with a cardigan.

Talbot's Woman runs large, and let me tell you, it's a HUGE thrill to be two sizes smaller in their clothes than everywhere else!

Lands End has very classic stuff - their overstocks page has good stuff!

Lane Bryant is another good place for us well-endowed folk.

Good luck!

Like Marisa, I hate button downs. I'm always looking like I'm about to pop a button anyway!

I hate to say that I prefer t-shirts, so I can't really help there. Like she said, check out Lane Bryant, or even Land's End for some styles and you can always send them back of you don't like them. Good luck! Wish I could be of more help, but I'm a HUGE fan of the tee and sweatshirt! Sorry!

I have to agree... I just think button-downs are kind of a pain, and much less "forgiving" for nursing in public. At least for me. I've just been much more comfortable in pullover tops--I wore tees all summer (although some were "dressier" ones, like from Ann Taylor Loft) and now I'm looking for fall sweaters. If you like fitted styles, you can find lots of nice ribbed sweaters right now. Good luck! I know it's kind of inconvenient not to be able to dress the way you're used to because of BFing. (I really miss wearing dresses.) But it's worth it.

I like Layne Bryant too. I've had to purchase lots of nursing clothes also-- but I found that the Motherhood nursing wear runs small-- the XLs were tight ;(

Good Luck!
