Default Should I get a stationary jumper?

The BB book says jumpers are dangerous and to avoid them. While I can completely see their point, my nephew absolutely loved his! He was at his happiest jumping and twirling in it. My sister-in-law always supervised him and to my knowledge, he never got injured. What are your thoughts?

We have the FP Deluxe Jumperoo. I'm not sure if that's what you mean by a stationary jumper or if you are talking about the doorway jumpers. The jumperoo is on a frame, kind of like a swing would be, rather than in a doorway. DS didn't love it at first, but he has enjoyed it now for a few months. DH usually puts him in it for a little while when they are in the family room together. It seems very safe to me, but we never really leave DS alone in it (or in a swing for that matter).

HTH!

We just bought the FP Jumperoo (2-3 weeks ago) and like it alot. I inherited a hand-me-down doorway jumper, but the doorways in our older home are all too narrow for the doorway jumper to be used safely. So it's sitting in the garage (tried selling it at a yard sale to no avail). Differences I've noticed with the Jumperoo are 1) it doesn't bounce as high as the doorway jumper (or maybe that's just bc DS is still figuring out how to jump?) and 2) it doesn't twist, BUT it's got those fun lights and music that reward baby when he jumps and most importantly....I don't have to worry about him smacking his head on the door frame. Good luck with your decision.

Default RE: Should I get a stationary jumper?

I had the Graco door jumper with a plastic tray and a "rubber bumper" all the way around. I can easily say it was the best $30 spent on ANY baby item. The seat was supportive, like one in a exer-saucer, not just a piece of cloth suspended between two bars like the older versions.

I think the main safety worry is leaving them in it for hours on end, especially if they are young and their legs or neck aren't yet strong. But for a few minutes a day, ie to get the dishes done, or just to play, it was the best. When she got older she really went to town in the thing. Our kitchen / living room doorway was an extra wide one, she'd get to swinging & bouncing in a wide circle. She'd squeal with joy. We have tons of video of it, its great!

It just depends on the baby, some don't care for them, but some love 'em.

My 2 cents.
