Default slightly OT: Does anyone have Dyson Vac?

I'm considering getting a Dyson Vacuum, specifically the Animal? It's so much money - but thinking it might help with the allergies/pet hair...and overall fighting of dirt. Does anyone have one and recommend it? Was it worth the price?

Sorry this isn't exactly toy/baby gear related - but i really respect this forum's opinion....And the clean house is for baby's benefit! :)

thanks in advance

Run, don't walk to get this vaccuum. The hair from our two dogs was kicking my old vacuum's butt so DH and I headed off to Sears for a new vacuum. We initially rebuffed the Dyson because of the cost and started looking at the top of the line bagless ones. After looking at all the vaccums we decided to try the Dyson. I figured we could take it home, try it and if it wasn't the greatest thing ever we'd return it. My DH was appalled at spending that much on a vacuum but we had a dog hair problem and at least we could return it. Well, it's awesome. Use it once and you will completely amazed/grossed out at how much dirt it sucks out of a rug you thought was clean. We just have the basic model and it works great for us. If my old vacuum had been picking up this much stuff, we'd have been changing the bag once a week at least.

The best part about it is that DH is obsessed with it. He thinks it's so cool and he actually vacuums multiple times a week just to use it. I am 99.9% sure he never once used our old vacuum. He'll talk about it to anyone who will listen.

If you do a search of the boards, particularly the Lounge, you will find a large number of posts praising this vac.
Many moms on the board have it, and love it.

We have one and LOVE it. I got the green/purple one from Ebay for $399. We have two dogs and our Hoover was awful. I was so disgusted the first time we used it! :)

I second ( or third whichever). I consider myself to be a really clean housekeeper. That said, I was completely stunned and disgusted to see how much fur came out of just the stairs. When I was done with all three floors, I had to empty the cannister TWICE and had enough fur for three new cats. This was on berber carpet too!
I cannot reccomend this vaaccuum enough. The cool factor had my husband and son as well. Michael loves the Dyson so much! He loves watching the dirt go round and round!

We recently bought the Animal DC 014 model made for Best Buy. Have to say that I absolutely love it! We have a serious pet hair problem in this house and it has definitely helped curb that. I think it is awesome and vacuum every day now because of how easy it is to use. Go get one! You won't regret it!

Don't have a pet but LOVE our Dyson. I bought the teal allergy+ model. We have a cleaning lady so the place gets vacuumed every day, but when I used the Dyson the first time, I came out with an inch of dirt from only a 6'x6' patch of carpet in the living room. Unbelievable. I immediately went on Amazon and bought one for my brother (their house really needs it).

I also have to say their customer service is fantastic. When my dad sucked up some yogurt with my brother's vacuum (don't ask), there was a nasty smell everytime it was turned on so they sent him replacement parts right away (after much laughing) and it's as good as new.

You will not regret this purchase at all.
