My son is 4 and a half months old and already weighs 21 lbs. He's outgrowing his Link-a-doos bouncer that we got as a baby shower gift. My husband and son both adore the bouncer and don't want to let go...are there any larger ones? I don't mean the ones that supposedly go to 30-35 lbs as sitting/reading chairs, since he's not even close to sitting up yet.
I appreciate any suggestions... |

My ds was huge too - he grew out of everything before the average baby. We let him stay in his bouncer when his weight was over the recommended limit. We moved him out of it once his skills were advanced enough to make us nervous when he was in the bouncer and trying to get out. I wish I knew of another seat for you. Do you have an exersaucer? They are awesome and your kid will be able to use it for a long time. HTH.

Unfortunately, it's not a weight problem - his head is hitting the upper rim and his feet are on the vibrator. He's actually been sleeping in it (doesn't roll over yet). I'll definitely look into an exersaucer...any recommendations given the size dilemma?

I wouldn't replace your current bouncer with another, even if the new one is bigger. Your ds will grow out of a new one too fast. My little line-backer loves his Exersaucer Ultra. He's almost 11 months and still plays in it for a few minutes while I shower. When my ds was closer to your ds's age he played in the saucer for long periods (with breaks to give his legs and hips a break). Since your ds sleeps in his bouncer, I assume it's the vibration he likes. Do you have a Pack-n-Play with a vibrating basinnet? Maybe he'd take to that. Of course, since he's growing out of the bouncer, he'd probably soon be out of the bassinet too. Another option is something like the Amby Hammock - I think you can let a baby sleep in that until they are a year or so. Our little/big guy did a lot of sleeping in his swing in the early months until we finally decided he'd be much happier in his crib. It only took a few days to teach him that the crib is a good place to sleep. Good luck.

You should look into the FP infant-toddler rocker. It is similar to a bouncy seat in that it vibrates. Here is a link http://tinyurl.com/5ogqn.
Also I want to assure you that your DS's weight gain is likely to slow down. I have many friends that had babies that were 20 lbs by 4 months but slowed down quite a bit. One of my friends baby is a year now and he is only 22 lbs.

I 2nd the FP infant toddler chair recommendation. As for the Pack N Plays the bassinet portion is only good till 15 lbs.

I also recommend the Fisher Price infant-toddler rocker.

My too!
If I would have known I would have bought this sooner. Fortunately I have a borrowed one that Jude is enjoying at 18 months as "his" chair. |
