Default Please help me pick a nativity!

Hi, we just pulled out our Lenox Creche for the first time (although we have had it for years), and my dd desperately wants to play with it. I have such great memories of playing with my mom's nativity scene, so I have decided that I really need to get a child-friendly one.

I have found a few, and would appreciate your feedback:

The Woodlands Fantasy Set -

http://www.sensationalbeginnings.com...p?T1=Z+1+3216X

I know that people have said that they really love Woodland Fantasy sets, but I have a concern re the size of the pieces. From the picture some of the pieces look pretty small. Do you think these would pose a choking hazard??

and item nos. MTC-412L & KA-64L from Constructive Playthings (www.constplay.com).

(I am sorry, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to post links from this site!)

I cannot afford a really expensive set. But would appreciate any other recommendations. TIA!

I don't have an experience with those, but I had the same idea anyway. I bought the Holztiger set (I didn't have one at all which is how I justified it LOL) and Simon LOVES to play with it. He totally ignores the tree and goes for that.

So at least I can give a thumbs up to buying a kid friendly nativity :)

I'd love to get a Lenox or similar when the kids are older...

I LOVE the look of the Holztiger set, but I just cannot shell out that kind of money right now. I am already way over budget for this holiday season!

The Lenox set was actually a wedding gift, and it is beautiful. It just doesn't really suit our lifestyle at the moment, IYKWIM!

I wonder, will the Holztiger set be discounted after Christmas? I am probably dreaming.

O.k., I have made up my mind, well sort of. I am either going to buy the Woodlands Fantasy Nativity, or buy some Holztiger pieces (Mary, Joseph & Baby Jesus) and buy a few pieces each year until I have my set.

What do you think?? If anyone has seen both, or other Woodlands Fantasy or Holztiger products IRL, what would you recommend.

I am really torn! (I have put both items in my on-line basket TWICE!!) TIA!

My choice would be the Nativity blocks. It is something that could be a year- round toy; just put away a few pieces.

Otherwise, my ILs are getting DS a Holztiger Nativity set; the Signum stable to be exact. I plan on adding pieces as we go along. Otherwise, there is no way I'd spend that kind of $$$ - especially when DS plays more with his inexpensive wood blocks and LP stuff than the Holztiger pieces that he already has. Don't get me wrong - I love the look and feel of the Holztiger stuff. I'm just not sure if it's worth the $$$, given the relatively low level of interest that DS has exhibited.

That is why the blocks would be my choice for this year. You could always start collecting Holztiger whenever you feel like.
