dh has switched to a cheaper, fair trade coffee (away from starbucks) and now we are accumulating metal coffee cans with plastic snap on lids. i am planning on covering some in scrapbook paper to use for marker and crayon storage, but i would love any other ideas of ways to re-purpose these. thanks so much in advance!

I'll also be awaiting ideas, I still have tons of old formula cans stored away just waiting for something to happen.

You can always call a local daycare or preschool program-my daughters per-school is always collecting paper towel/toilet paper rolls, cans(nice ones with lids like yours), Cool Whip containers, baby wipe containers, etc. I am sure they would love to recycle them for you!

At holiday time after wrapping with interesting paper, they are great filled with cookies and treats to give as small gifts.
With a large powder formula can (which didn't have a sharp metal edge), I cut an X into the lid (rounding the points) and stored small blocks in them. The X makes it more of a "toy" as DS reaches his hand in to grab the block and then pushes them back through the hole. |
