Default Recorder/flute recommendations?

Is 3 1/2 too young for a recorder? You know, those little plastic flute things you played in 3rd grade music class? I've found a couple on the web that were pretty cheap (but probably not after paying for shipping!),but I'm not sure what makes a decent recorder. Anyone else's DC have one and use it?

Default RE: Recorder/flute recommendations?

My 2 yr old has one that he plays with. He can't really cover many of the finger holes but he does pretend to.
I think a super cheap one is just fine. I think I paid $4 for ours at a local toy store. I've wanted a Saxoflute http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw...oflute&x=0&y=0
since seeing one at a friends house. I think it would be really fun for this age.
