Small Truck and Car Seat...Good Match???

I drive a small Nissan Pickup. There is no passenger side air bag, but also has no extended cab. Is it safe for me to cart the baby around in the front seat of the truck (strapped in properly, of course!)? In case we trade it in for an extended cab, where is the best place to put a car seat in that kind of truck?

I have a small '96 Nissan pickup with no passenger side airbag, and I have used my Graco infant seat with base in it with no problem. The only catch is I have to use a locking clip for the seatbelt.
