Default Primo Viaggio Infant Seat - need advice !

I am trying to choose an infant carseat for our third baby due in September. I am really having a dilemma between the Peg Perego infant carrier (which works so well with our Pliko stroller) and going with the Evenflo Cozy Carry (we've had the On My Way in the past and liked it, but it doesn't work as seemlessly with the Peg stroller). My questions for Primo Viaggio owners are:

1) can you use your carseat with a shopping cart? The Evenflo On My Way clipped onto the cart and was really handy during shopping trips. None of the salespeople can seem to give me a straight answer on whether you can do this with the Peg carseat.

2) can you use your carseat on most restaurant high-chairs (the plain wooden kind that most restuarants have)? Again, the Eveflo On My Way was great for that convenience.

3) Do you really find the seat confining to larger/chubbier infants? I think most babies outgrow their infant seats well before the one year mark (mine did around 7 mos, and they were born at 8 lbs 9oz and 8 lbs 14 oz.). I checked the height, depth, width measurements on both seats and they seem to be pretty similar other than the weight restrictions of 20 vs. 22 lbs.

4) Any other kudos or complaints about your infant carrier/carseat? I know some people don't like that you can't use it in a car without the base (not an issue for us) but other than that, feedback would be very appreciated. The only other people I've met that have this carseat are brand new moms at the pediatrician's office and they don't have enough mileage under their belts to give it a thorough review! I need to make a decision soon!

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

I have the peg, and i love it! i hope that i can answer your questions. My DD is 5 1/2 months so we have had lots of use in it.

1. I really do not have nay experience with the shopping cart. I saw a baby and a carrier fall off of a cart at the store. Thankfully, no one was hurt(it wasn't a peg). So i just put my DD in the cart. It can be tricky with groceries, but I make do.

2. The car seat fits in the wooden highchairs when they are flipped over. It's somewhat stable. I usually just bring in the stroller.

3. My DD was 9lb 7 oz at birth. We fit in fine in the seat and are just about to grow out of it at 5 1/2 months. (25 inches and 16 1/2 lbs)When I had the bases installed by the police department, they commented on how well the base fit into the cars (an Acura and a Windstar). I don't mind the issue of a base. You can get extra bases at BRU.

4. overall, I am satisfied with it. It is FAA approved as well. The blue and white check fabric wipes off nicely. And it works so well with the strollers.

I hope that this helps. Enjoy your new baby.

Thank you, Katey! This was just the kind of feedback I was looking for! Now I just have to get out and make the purchase. Goodness, 9 lbs 7 oz - that made me feel a whole lot better. I am measuring 2 wks ahead of my EDD so they know this baby is going to be huge. That's why I was concerned about the Peg being too narrow for our big baby, but if your DD has faired well in hers then so should my son.
Thanks again!

Just one comment on the PP infant carseat... It can not be installed without the base, while all other seats that come with bases can be installed with or without their bases. This means that you have to use and install the base every time you want to use the infant carseat in a different car or when travel on airplane and rental car, you have to lug the base with you everywhere.

While it is not a safety concern, it is just inconvenient.
