We are having a November baby and it does get cold here. I know no snowsuits or heavy coats in the carseat, so what about these
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...=279MMUXK6XNG3 are they safe? They look like they go under the baby which is why I am wondering. If not, what else is good for keeping the baby warm during the winter?

Karen, last I checked, Lands End had some fleece snowsuits on their Overstocks page - I would suggest one of those. We've used them two winters in a row, and they have worked great! Plus, once baby is in a convertible seat (it could happen to you before the weather warms up), it keeps baby warm whether he/she is in the seat or not.

I would agree with the fleece snowsuit. Fleece is wonderful and non bulky and it's a good price at Lands' End - $29.50. But also on Lands' End overstocks is their own version of the bundle me for $19.50.
http://tinyurl.com/2cm52 This one apparently has no back. Watch out and read carefully, there are 2 infant seat squall's listed on the site and the other does have a back. The one with no back item number is: 8804-98K3 You are right, you don't want anything under the harness. Except baby of course! Good luck, congrats btw |

Karen my first thought it is too are you using an infant carrier or going to a Convertible from the start. We went to a Convertible from the get go (the Marathon) with no regrets at all.

You really want the one they have at LE that has no back. It should cover the child, but not go underneath the straps or the baby.
I third the recommendation for the fleece snowsuit as well. Although Lindsey was out of the infant seat by winter, it would have worked just fine for both seats. |

I used an infant car seat for DS's entire first winter and I would agree with getting a fleece bunting (snowsuit). I have had Columbia fleece buntings the past 2 winters and we used them constantly. DS has outgrown their sizing for the fleece buntings so I got an LL Bean one on clearance a while ago for this coming winter. I did have a car seat cover the first winter as well, but I ended up using it only on the very coldest days. The LE one looks nice though, mine was a much cheaper brand. So I would say go with both, if you live in a cold area you will probably end up using both.
