HI girls
I'm debating between the snugride & the matching perego one for the 2005 P3. Snugride pros & cons The pros - good reviews & reasonable price The cons - attaches to the P3 but not as well as the perego one & not matching as well Perego car seat pros & cons The pros - prefect match & attaches very well (you could pick up the whole thing as one)plus also good reviews The cons - very pricey for the short use, almost double as the snugride, is it worth the extra $$$? please help me choose :-) Thanks Gisela |

Snugride. Much easier to install, cheaper, can be used without the base, handle can be left up in car. It won't last *much* longer than the Primo Viaggio, they both have 20 pound/26 inch weight and height limits, but it's a bit wider.
You'll be using the carsesat for 4-6 months, and don't want to always leave the baby in the seat (can lead to plagiocephaly, "head flattining" if babies are left lying on firm mattresses or car seats too long, so you shouldn't leave them in the seat for more than about 20 minutes on either end of the car trip to reduce risk), and you'll have the stroller for 4 years or so, so don't worry too much about how matching they are...and I'm sure you can find a pattern that won't at least clash too badly :) Also look at the the Baby Trend Adjustable Back from Babies R Us...it has a higher weight and height limit and installs with rigid LATCH if you have a newer car. :) Julie CPS Tech and mom to 2 in seats http://www.cpsafety.com/articles/RFAlbum/SarahMA.aspx |

I have the Viaggio and am just getting ready to store it away since my son is almost 7 months old. I had the EXACT same dilemma you are having!!!! I had heard that ds would grow out of the seat faster than the snugride because the shoulder width is slightly narrower but he has loved this seat so much and is still very comfortable in it at 6.5 months. My biggest problem with the seat is that it is heavier than the snugride. That can really be a bummer when your baby gets to be 15 pounds or so!!! Honestly, even with it being heavier I am so glad we picked this seat...it's worth it. Oh...and the canopy on it could be better as well, I like the ones on the snugrides better. Maybe they've improved this in the 2005 model. These two things (for me)have been really minor issues. If you have lower latches in your car than the base will be really easy and secure to install. Some people have complained that installing the base is difficult. I don't have lower latches in my car and feel that it still tightens nicely. Good luck!!! I think that either seat is a great choice, it's just a matter of spending a little more for a seat that matches and fits more securely in your stroller. I LOVE the P3 by the way!!!!! Excellent stroller!

I'm in the exact same boat. Want to buy the P3 but not sure which infant seat to get. Am thinking of getting the Snugride with snap-n-go because I went to BRU yesterday and put the Snugride into the P3 and even though they don't have the universal strap to try out at the store it just doesn't seem safe - too wobbly inside the P3.
Am so undecided and unsure I started looking at other alternatives, the Combi strollers with infant seats. Then I read that the Zippy accommodates the snugride and many people like the zippy just as much as the p3. I'm going to try to go to a store tomorrow that has the snugride in metropolitan, cause many others near me do not. This same store also has the zippy so I'm going to check that out with the snugride. |

I just got the P3 this week. I plan to get a snugride one of these days. We got the P3 in Safari, so there aren't too many snugrides that really go with it. I'm not too worried about the matchy-matchy pattern thing, as baby boy is measuring VERY tall in utero (we're both tall) and it's not like we'll be using the snugride forever.
I was also considering the Zippy, but a lot of people have had problems with them lately and customer service has been all but non-existent, that made the choice a whole lot easier for me. |

I have 2 Peg carseats. One I got for a killer deal as part of the P3 travel system and bought another one when we found out we were having twins. I paid more for the second seat then I did for the whole travel system.
My first child was able to fit into the seat until 13 months. He was and still is very small. However I only used it for about 4 months. If you can get a deal for the Peg carseat I'd go for it. I only used the carseat and stroller together maybe 3 times as I prefered to take my child out of the carseat most of the time. |

Just a thought. We decided on the stroller before the infant seat. I think you'll make a better decision if you do it in that order. You don't want to get a stroller just because it will go better with the seat...and then end up with a not so great stroller. NWIM? You'll use the stroller longer and may not even end up using the stroller/infant seat together much anyway. I just thought I'd share my thoughts since it sounded like a pp was thinking about buying a stroller to accommodate an infant seat. We started going in that direction too. We looked at zippys since they're much more affordable and nice looking...and so that we could get the snugride which seemed more secure in it. I am really glad we went with the P3(and Viaggio). If I couldn't of spend the dough on the Viaggio I would have bought the Snugride instead and still bought the P3 and just not put them together. I would have sacrificed the the travel system option (that's how nice I think the P3 is). I think it's a great stroller that we will be using for a long time. Good luck.
