So we must by a convertible car seat for our 1yr+ daughter in the next week or so for a trip we are taking, and i am very depressed at the prospect of new and vital information being published two weeks after our purchase in the new edition of the guide.
we are leaning towards the roundabout largely because of its high rating in the guide, and away from the marathon because of its size. (We are manhattan folks.) any chance of an early preview or hint or anything from the authors to suggest that we are or arent following the right path? i promise to buy the book when it comes out (our 5th edition is well-worn). |

Honestly, this board is more up-to-date than even the sixth edition is right now (since it went to press a while back). Read some of the posts here for suggestions, and you might want to search on Manhattan or New York for suggestions on what other urban dwellers do.

Save time searching..here's what the forum folks will tell you...
I think the Britax seats are still tried and true faves. You say you live in NY- do you have a car? If yes, and if it will fit, you might as well go with the Marathon. It will last longer and isn't much more expensive for the extra time you will use it. Is it really that much bigger than the RA? If you're just getting a carseat for this trip and occasional future use, you can get a bargain one (one that Julie recs is the Cosco Touriva/Regal Ride)... http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html...sin=B00009EBY3 HTH!

Yup, you're not missing anything ;). They didn't even ask *me* for my opinions on anything for that book, lol!
(No, I'm not a diva or anything, but you'd think they'd have acknowledged me by now, hehehehe...I've been plugging away at this board here for years!)) If you don't have a car, you really can't go wrong with the Roundabout...a breeze to install in virtually anything, and quickly, with practice. The Touriva/Regal Ride is awesome, too, but sometimes pretty upright when RF, and you don't want to be hauling a bathtowel or pool noodle with you in addition to a car seat! If you do have a car...go for the Marathon or Decathlon...they fit fine in even small cars...same as your infant seat does, in terms of taking up front leg room. :) Good luck! Hey Julie--
I'll write "Thanks to Julie" in the preface of my copy, as I'm sure I'll be getting the newest version.
