Default Safest RF postition for MA?

Dh and I bought a 01 Lexus RX 300 about a month ago. The night we got it from the dealership, we were frazzled from a long day of car shopping and DH installed our MA RF in the middle of the back seat using the 3 point belt (is that what the shoulder belt is called??) because we thought it didn't have latch (the manual was missing from it and the salesman wasn't terribly familiar with the Lexus-it was a Toyota dealership). Long story long, I just got a manual on ebay and it turns out it has latch on both sides of the backseat, but not the middle. My question is, are we better off leaving the seat in the middle with the belt or should we move it to one side and install it with latch? Is latch safer or just more convienient?
TIA

If you're happy with the installation, leave it where it is. Even in a super-safe car, being an extra foot or so from possible door intrusion is A Good Thing.
