I'm going to buy a mini-van at some point, but at the moment I have a Chevy Cavalier. Our front-facing (2.5 yr old son just passed the weight limit for RF) Marathon is in the outboard position (unfortunately) and we fit our Fisher Price Stay-in-View right next to it in the middle. They are both in really well and the infant carrier is removable from the base without the MA being a problem.
Would a Graco SafeSeat fit next to a Marathon in this way? If I got one after the baby outgrew the SIV it would certainly buy me time from having to move to a convertable and put both kids in outboard positions. I know that the SIV is a special kind of car seat though and this configuration we have is probably impossible with any other infant carrier, because they all have handles on the sides, but I thought I would ask. Thanks for reading. |

Hi. There's no way to really tell unless you try it out at a store like Babies R Us. It all has to do with how they mesh together. The SS is just a bigger SnugRide, but the base is a lot different and is bigger overall. You said that your ds is outboard (unfortunately)--have you tried his seat in the center position? Why doesn't it work there?
Won't you just be sad to say goodbye to the SIV? I loved ours. Heather, CPS Tech http://www.CarSeatSite.com |

He has been in the center position, but now the SIV is in the center position, MA in the outboard in anticipation for the new baby who should be coming soon. They are right next to each other. Is that not the way they should be? Should the infant be in the outboard? We don't have anymore middles, much as I wish we had two. :) Unfortunately the mini van will have to wait until 2007.
The reason I say unfortuately is because I am terrified of something happening now that I have to have at least one child near the door. Probably hysterical pregnancy hormones or something. |

CPS techs usually advise you to put the least protected child in the most protected postion, so theoretically that would mean the RF child would go outboard and the FF convertible in the center.
