Default Car Seats that Travel Well

Before I had a child, I saw some very smart parents, in the airport, with a car seat that became a make-shift stroller. It fit a toddler and rolled as if it was luggage. The child was safely (rear-facing) strapped into it and rode through the airport. I'm sure this sounds obsurd but I was curious enough to ask them and then checked out the company later. I no longer have the information and would love to find it. Does anyone have information on this?

I could also use comments on strollers that travel well. My husband's family is scattered across the country, as are our friends. The infant carrier and matching stroller (Graco Coach Rider) have served us very well but, he's outgrown the car seat. Now it's time to look at new car seats and a smaller stroller (for travel only.)

I've seen those carseats at One Step Ahead but know nothing about them.

How I travel: child in ergo on back, other child on footboard of Peg P3, P3 loaded with 2 carseats (marathon and RA)and bags! lol

how old is he and how big?

I'm assuming he's still rf, so I'd get the Cosco Scenera and use a luggage cart (you can hook the seat to it with the latch and tether) and just roll him that way.

if he's over 6mo, a maclaren volo would be fine for a stroller to get you around.

Is the Sit and Stroll what you remember seeing?

It is big and bulky and not the best car seat.
I use a Britax Roundabout and purchased wheels that you can attach to it, it works out great and I find travelling so easy with it. Much easier even than when I used the infant seat with my P3 when DD was a infant.

Just keep in mind that the GoGo Kidz and Britax carseat are purchased seperately (the GoGo Kidz wheels only work with the Britax seats). But you'll get a great carseat that you can comfortably use everyday, not just for travel like so many people do with the Sit and Stroll.

If the child was rear-facing and the parent was rolling the seat behind them, what you likely saw was a Britax car seat with a Go Go Kidz attachment on it. Several moms on this board have them and rave about them!

Here's a link:

We have a Britax Marathon and a Roundabout and we like them both a lot. The Marathon will last us so much longer, though. We plan to pass the Roundabout down to the next baby and replace it with another Marathon or Decathlon for DS when he outgrowns the Roundabout.

ETA: Mariza and I were posting at the same time!

You all have been SO VERY helpful. THANK YOU!! The link at http://store.babycenter.com/product/...ms/4432?stage= shows exactly what I meant. Good to know that it has issues with airplane seatbelts. The manufacturer and I are in the same town. I'm going to go check it out today and will pass on the many comments I saw here and on other sites about that failure. That's a significant issue. How hard can it be to fix?

THANKS EVERYONE!!

You can also use a Scenera with any stroller with a napper bar. Just put the ff foot in the back down and plunk it into the stroller. There's a lip on the front of the Scenera that hooks onto the stroller.

HTH,
Ann, who just traveled this way last week, even by herself with a 22mo
