I am having a problem finding a place to tether my Boulevard RF in my BMW 740. The car is a few years old and does not have latch, so I have the seat installed in the center position with a lap belt. Because of the way the BMW's seats are designed, I cannot find a seat leg or seatbelt stalk that is bolted to the floor for me to attach the d-ring and tether. (The car's seats appear to be on a semi-enclosed track and the seatbelt stalk moves along with the seat). Does anyone have experience with this car and know of a way it can be done?
Also, the top tethers are there, but apparenlty I have to take the car in to the dealer to have them exposed before I can use them, ARGH! I plan to RF my 8 month old as long as possible so I have a while before I need to worry about those though. TIA! |

BMW's are some of the only cars where even *I* couldn't find a place to RF tether a Britax :(. It would be your choice to use the seatbelt stalk if it's possible. They say not to use anything that moves, but as long as you know it might move forward or back a bit, you can prepare for it (it honestly wouldn't have much effect on the BV). The seat and stalk themselves are thorougly bolted to the vehicle and won't take your carseat with them in a crash, either (that's why it's a parental decision...it's safe, but since it moves, it's against the manual..know what I mean?)
For when you finally have to go FF, it's going to cost a bundle to get the anchor hardware exposed/attached (you have the bolts, but it's a royal pain to dig them out and add the actual clip, and it's expensive, from everything I've ever heard about it :(. Thanks so much for your reply! I'll try tethering to the sealbelt stalk and see how I like it.
It doesn't surprise me that it costs a bundle to get the rear tethers set up. Hopefully by the time my son is FF in a few years I'll have a new car. =) Amanda |

I think I'd try tethering to the seat belt stalk on the front passenger seat with the seat back far enough so you don't have to move it.
