Our DC#2 is supposed to show up in just a little over a month. We can't have a rear-facing carseat on the driver's side, because DH can't drive with his seat forward enough to make room for a RF seat. So in order to put both kids in carseats in the car, one of them has to be FF...unless I'm missing something.
DS#1 is 18 months, but only weighs about 22 pounds. So I know he meets the requirements to turn the Scenera around, but I also know RF is safer. Is there anything we can do to keep DS rear facing (short of buying a new car which we can't do), or am I right that we really have no choice? |

Can you install his seat any more upright than it already is in order to gain some more leg room for driver's seat? We have a pretty small car and have a Marathon installed very upright for our 2 year old. I would definitely try that before you commit to turn him FF.

But I thought it was supposed to be at a 45 degree angle, no?

I think that's mostly for newborns.

Exactly...for an older child, the recline can be as little as 30 degrees and that is pretty darn upright!

45 degree recline is only a must for newborns. Once the child has good head control, the seat can be more upright. He may even like being more upright because he should be able to see out the window better that way. Good luck.

Can you put the seat behind the passenger?

No...that's where DC#2's infant seat will be.

I would just install his seat more upright, like the pp said all you need for a kid that age is a 30 degree angle. Try putting the seat where your DH needs it to be and then installing the seat, its fine for the carseat to touch the back of the front seat.
I wouldn't turn him, there is still a HUGE safety advantage to rfing at this age. |

He's in a Scenera now?
I'd definitely just try to install the seat more upright, you can gain a ton of room that way. I'm not sure if the Scenera is allowed to touch the seat in front, I know Britax encourages it, but some don't allow it. Something to check. |
