I am looking for 2nd carseat for my parents car. DS is 2 1/2 and 36lb and 39 inches. He is in a Decathalon FF in my car and shoulders are almost even with straps in 3rd slot. I had been thinking maybe Evenflo Generations so we would have the booster after 40lb but then I saw the post about the Fisher Price Safe Voyage Deluxe for $130 at Albee baby. My concern is he will out grow the FPSV too quickly and still need to buy a booster. We are replacing a Britax Freeway that has expired. Any advice would be appreciated.

That's probably a good choice. Kids need to be in boosters till age 8-12 or so and about 4'9" (www.boosterseat.gov), so you'll need another booster anyway later. I'd go with a higher weight harness seat for such a big kid, honestly (FPSV, Apex, Regent, Safeguard Go), so you can keep him harnessed to at least age 5. Then after that you use a booster (a good side impact tested highback booster is best... Britax Monarch, Compass B510, Jane Indy Plus, for example)
