Default Does the Apex have true SIP?

I am STILL trying to decide what carseat to buy for DD1--almost 3, 33 lbs and 13" torso--as we pass her Wizards on to the twins (7 months and outgrowing their snugrides).
My top choices are the Apex, Regent, and Radian. I would consider one of the new Recaros if they come out in the next week or so.
The Apex has the head wings we are used to (and love) in WZ, but are they as safe? or safer than the SIP in the Radian or Regent anyway?
I'll be installing the new seats in a 2006 Odyssey, 3rd row center and 2004 Civic Hybrid, center.
Any input helpful in making my decision is appreciated!
Jill

No, I think the headrest structure is so flimsy that they probably can't claim to have true SIP, but then again, any 5 pt harnessed seat is going to be very protective, especially in those cars. Have you seen one in real life to see if you like it? You might love it, you might hate it, it's definitely a different feeling seat from the Wizards.....

No store near me carries the Apex. I want to make sure it really has everything I want before I order it from somewhere. I'm just wondering if the Radian or Regent are any safer.
I'm reaching out at whatever I can to help make the decision.

ah hah... i see...lemme throw some features out...

Radian: Tough to fit with seatbelts. Performs well even without the top tether. Narrow, fits 3 across with two forward facing Britaxes.

Apex: Requires headrests. Average performance without top tether (ie, I'd only feel comfortable using it tethered). Installs more easily in more cars. Wider, comfier for larger kids. Won't fit three across. Becomes a pretty nice booster for bigger kids.

That help any? One of each? :D

The Apex is LARGE. It's as big as a Regent.

The only perks over a Regent are that it is lighter (but therefore flimsier), it can be a booster, and its cheaper.

If you have room for a Regent, I'd just get a Regent and be done with it for several years and worry about boosters later.

If you want/need something narrow, I'd skip them both. :)

Thank you so much!
That is very helpful. I'm ruling out the Apex. Well, I ruled it out based on your info, but then I also read the Odyssey's owner manual which says that when you install a carseat with a tether in the back bench you need to "remove and safely store" the headrest. So, it's double out of the running.
I'm leaning towards the Regent but will go to the baby store tomorrow with DD1 to check out the Regent and Radian and make the final decision.
Thanks!!
Jill
