My friend has 3 kids and has to move from a minivan to an Explorer. Her kids are 5 years, almost 3 years, and 2 months. Her DH wants to put the almost 3 in a booster because it's easier. I've convinced her this is a bad idea. Now, she wants recommendations for which seats will fit across the Explorer.
5 year old is about 44 lbs and 45 inches tall 3 year old is about 37 lbs and 37 inches tall 2 month old is about 15 lbs and 25 inches long She currently has a Turbo booster (backless), an Alpha Omega, and a Evenflo bucket. She says they do not fit across. The 3 year old is outgrowing the AO, so she needs something bigger for him. The 2 month old will outgrow the bucket pretty soon and she wants to use the AO for her. She'd like something with some sleeping support for the 5 year old, as he gets uncomfortable on longer trips. Any recommendations? We're in Boulevards and infant carriers here and only have 2 kids, so I'm not sure what to tell her.

I'd say a Radian for the 3 year old. And maybe a Parkway for the 5 year old. Or 2 Radians. Either way. I'm not too sure though. Maybe someone else will have more ideas for you.

Yeah, Parkway is easiest to buckle, good sleep support for the 5 yo. Radian is ideal for the 3 yo (is he really that heavy? If he's a little lighter, the Graco Platinum Cargo is much cheaper and is also narrow, tall top slots). Fisher Price Safe Voyage Deluxe is also a good choice for the 3 yo if he IS that heavy...it's on a super narrow base, so easy to buckle a booster next to it. They can take the base off the AO and it should be a heap narrower and fit a lot better, if they haven't taken it off already. Not sure which Evenflo, but there's a recent recall on Embraces, so have her look into that.

Thanks to both of you. She guessed on the weight of the near 3 year old, but my DS is 34lbs and he's gone down from a peak of 37lbs a few months ago. Her DS is much chunkier looking, although shorter, than my DS, so I think 37 is not too far off.
Thanks for the heads up on the recall. The Evenflo is from her first - so at least 5 years old, but less than 6 years.
