I rarely use a stroller because DS doesn't like to be in one. But now that DS is getting heavier I think I would like to start getting him used to being in one. I already have a Pliko that I like very much, but I would like something that is lighter, more compact, and can be steered well with one hand because I inevitably end up carrying DS. As most posters have already said, the Pliko is impossible to steer well with one hand! I would like to be able to carry this out to the car with DS and a diaper bag.
Since I also have a jogging stroller and the Pliko, this one doesn't need to be used for walks - mainly mall-type excursions. Some features I would like are but could do without are: basket (size doesn't matter), comfy seat, and ability to hang a purse/diaper bag on handles. Any suggestions? TIA! |

One word - MACLAREN!!! By far the lightest and best stroller to push one handed. I have a Mac Vogue to compliment my pliko and I love it. There is a Mac Vogue on clearance right now on babyage.com for $150 - good price! I do hang a small diaper bag from the handles but usually remove it if I am taking my dd out of the stroller - you need to watch for tipping with such a lightweight stroller. There are a wide range of Maclaren models and the Vogue is probably the middle of the pack as far as weight and features go. Good luck!

At your baby's age, one of the lighter Maclarens would be a great addition. The Volo is the lightest, but if your babe needs a recline to nap, this isn't for you. The Quest, Triumph (new) and Daytripper (now discontinued) are all great strollers for older babes.

A third vote for Maclaren. Great one-handers. Our Kidco Finale (less expensive Maclaren knock-off) works well for us, too.

Is the Vogue different enough from the Pliko to have different uses?

I also wholeheartedly recommend one of the lighter Macs. Another stroller you might want to consider is the Inglesina Swift.

If you're looking for something less expensive than the Maclaren I just got a Chicco London which seems to fit your requirements.

I'll second what someone else said...the Inglesina Swift is a great stroller and very easy to push one-handed.

The Vogue and the Pliko are definitely different enough to each serve it's own purpose. My pliko is more of my long-day-want-baby-to-be- cozy-holds-more-stuff stroller. I also use it when I have both of my girls with me because my 5 year-old likes to use the footboard on the back. My Vogue is my only-have-one-kid-with-me-quick-trip-go-through-airport-security-just-stopping-in-the-post-office stroller. It's also a better stroller for my 5 year-old when she's having a long day and wants to ride because she can get in and out so quickly. It's a toss-up as to which one I use more because I find them both so useful. Good luck!

I'll second the London. I haven't used it much except to play with my 3 yo but it steers one-handed like a dream!
