Default KK Fleece pouch vs Walking Rock Farm Hip Carrier

Ok, I saw a posting about the WRF and now I am trying to decide between theese two. I wish I could see and try IRL!!! I am skeptical about the pouch becuase I guess the legs are always inside and it seems baby might not like that as they get older.

I like the hip-carry, which they both do. I guess I am looking for the most srurdy and most comfortable. To be used when out on errands. I don't like alawys having the stroller.

Can anyone compare and contrast theese?

I also saw the One Step ahead hip carrier, which seems 2 good 2 be true and 24.95! Any reviews on this one?

So confusing!

In terms of using a sling or carrier for the hip carry, I think it is more what you are comfortable using. I have not heard good things about the OSA carrier. IMO, you tend to get what you pay for in a carrier.

I have a pouch style sling that I made, and I love it. I didn't start using it until Sarah was 10 months old. She is now almost 20 months and I still use it all the time for the hip carry. She doesn't mind it at all and is very content to be held that way. Once they are older, their legs hang down, and the sling is more like a "seat" for them. Here's a picture showing this (scroll all the way down) http://www.kangarookorner.com/page59.html .

HTH,

Default RE: KK Fleece pouch vs Walking Rock Farm Hip Carrier

I have seen both IRL, and I would recommend the KK fleece pouch. I used the KK fleece pouch with my 2 year old during my pregnancy, up until the day I delivered! I then used it with my newborn and it fits a newborn just as comfortably. I never noticed any problem with tucking the legs in, as I think both my babies enjoyed snuggling in this way. Another perk? The fleece feels AWESOME against tender breast tissue when your milk comes in after delivery! I didn't take mine off for weeks!!! The fleece pouch is easily adjustable to either snuggle the legs up inside, or slips under baby's thighs for a comfortable carry. Another perk? It is really light weight, and doubles as a comfortable blanket for baby to lie on (I use mine as extra padding for diaper changes), and I also use mine as an extra cover in the carseat. It's soooooo soft! And washes quickly, too.

I haven't owned a WRF hip carrier, but my friend has, and your child must be older to use this, able to support themselves. I started out using slings in Europe 12 years ago when my first DD was born, and I've learned to enjoy the versatility of the slings. The WRF carrier seems better suited for use only as a carrier. HTH.
