Default mac global question and stroller indecision

Hi. I currently own the martinelli version of the perego milano (that i got for a great price) great stroller for when my baby was an infant but now at 5 months am looking for something lighter and easier. i was leaning towards the techo because i love it but in the car seat (in kolcraft universal) DS tries to pull himself up so i figured he'd do the same in slanted techno seat. is the global seat slanted? is anyone happy with it? thought it might have some nice maclaren features while still having the bumper and flatter seat (?). basically this would be used as our main stroller-- in and out of the car, on long-ish walks, etc. i need something that is somewhat light, folds somewhat smallish to fit nicely in the trunk, and has a decent amount of comfort so DS can nap in it comfortably. i was also thinking of the zippy. i want somethign that is good for traveling, but even though the zippy is heavier, i am sure it will still be fine to check on an airplane. i don't take the subway and don't live in a walk upso lugging up and down stairs is not really a problem. money is not that much of a problem because the martinelli was pretty cheap (relatively speaking) but the bugaboo frog is a bit much in my opinion. any thoughts? (please!)

I started out with the milano, too, and switched to the mac global at six months and my daughter loooves it -- and so do i! it is so lightweight and steers so well one-handed. i chose it over the techo because the seat is NOT slanted -- and it also has a napper bar, which is great b/c my daughter likes to lean forward and play with the toys that i attached to it. she also sleeps really well in it, b/c it reclo=ines all the way back. i use it every day for everything -- long walks, shopping, etc., and i don't have a single complaint.... good luck!!!

I was so glad to hear your recommendation of the Global. I am considering it for my everyday stroller for all of the reasons you mentioned. It is between the Global and the Pliko. I just LOVE The way the MACs "drive"...it would be in and out of the car and travel- everything. I would love a lighter Mac, but my 7 mo old doesn't seem to like the slump. Thanks for your help!

i ended up getting the techno actually. i spoke to a guy in buy buy baby and he said that he doesn't recommend the global because the napper bar is made very close to the seat or something like that so there is little room for the legs and isn't as comfortable. he said if i was considering the global i should go with the zippy or even the p3 but if i was looking for a light stroller for in and out of the car, the maclarens were the best. and if i already own the martinelli, then i should get the maclaren because i have the plush thing.

i could have easily gone for one of the cheaper maclarens but i was taken by the features of the techno-- the full(ish) recline and the bigger wheels, the pockets on the canopy, etc. apparently the vogue is also a good choice (or is it the quest?--either way it is the one that comes with the little infant head supporter and the boot) and that one was even cheaper than the techno (i think $240 or 250 compared to $290) but it doesn't have the bigger wheels which i thought was better for me since i plan to use it for walks here and there. i also went to the store and put my six month old in the stroller and walked around a bit to make sure he was okay wiht the slant (based on people's suggestions here) and he was more than happy in it so i hope that sticks.

the truth is, after everything: the martinelli milano and the techno: i should have just sprung for the bugaboo frog because i will probably look for a jogging stroller next so that could have been my all in one. (i'm not a jogger--just a walker, so i am going to use the techno for that until i see that it is impeding my exercise plans.)

i really liked the techno because it looked really easy to use, which was important, and i had major stroller envy whenever i saw one. it is probably more for me than it is for the baby!! also just quit my job to stay at home with the baby and i wanted somethign that might make my life easier when it comes to walking with him and just plain gettign around. (anything that will make the transition easier--am nervous!)

but every stroller has its pros and cons. (spent last thursday reading the entire 'adventures in strollerland' because i was curious!)
i spent the first two months cursing the milano because it was so big and hard to manage but lately i have ben using it more often i love that my son can go to sleep so easily in it. and i could go to a friend's for dinner and it is like a crib on wheels.

i can't believe you asked a simple question and i just went on and on about this. sorry!

oh and also i left out the most important part-- i bought the martinelli on ebay for $180 (nib) that i was able to pick up from the guy's store, and i was picking up a britax RA from the same seller ($170.50) so while i was there i bought the techno from him for $240. so i was really pleased with my savings so it kind of made up for the sticker shock (which i think would haunt me every day if i bought the bugaboo)

So funny about my simple question and your answer...NOTHING Is simple and I know that! I am glad that you are happy with your choices. Now, I really have stroller envy and the whole bar thing on the Global is throwing me! I really just want it all and can't seem to find it. I guess my hope is to find something so if we are on a trip, she can nap comfortably, which is why I was looking for a full recline. My daughter tries to roll over in her car seat and stroller to nap...which obviously does not work but she likes to sleep on her tummy! Anyway, the saga continues. I guess if I get the Global and the bar gets in the way, I could remove it. The Globals coming out in the fall are in great colors. I wish I could try a Zippy....oh, well. Now, I am sorry for the ramble! Good Luck with the Techno.

definitely try the zippy. the buy buy baby guy actually said that if i had gotten the zippy i would have been fine with it as my only stroller (which actually pissed me off because buy buy baby is the one that said you HAVE to get the peg perego milano or venezia...)
a friend of mine uses the zippy as her only stroller and she swears by it.

The Zippy might make a great only stroller for some, but not me. I do really like it. The fold is fantastic and I love its looks. It's also very plush in comparison to my 2001 Techno ltd. edition. However, it doesn't steer nearly as well as a Mac and having used my Techno since Lola was six months old, I've become both used to and dependent on easy one-handed steering. It's also 5 lbs. heavier which is definitely noticable when your hoisting the thing in and out of the car and up and down stairs. Though the Global certainly has it's trade-offs, weight and perhaps this napper bar thing, for me at least, it's a better choice for an only stroller.
