I have a Bjorn, which I like a lot, but I was looking for an inexpensive sling to try with my 6 month old son. (DH would shoot me if I spent 50 dollars on another carrier). I like the looks of the hotsling but I was wondering how people liked them....thanks!

A hotsling.com style sling would probably suit you quite well! I have a similar one from www.daisy-doodles.com. At 6 months old, the hip carry position is invaluable, and a (well-fitting) pouch is perfect for that.
Do you sew? If so, you can sew your own with a free pattern on the internet and save a few more bucks!

Jen,
I love mine. I can't tell you how many times people have stopped me on the street to ask me where I got it. I have the regular $15 one for Nate (also 6 months), but to hold him with his feet hanging out, the fabric leaves red marks on the back of his legs, so I am going to order another one with the rails ($7) from Kristen in the fall (I want to try the corduroy one). HTH

I have a hotsling and really like it. I just got it for my 22 month old son and wish I had bought it when he was a lot younger. It's a great, easy to use sling for less than $20.

I also have a hotsling and love it! I agree that if you use the hip position with legs out--get the one with leg rails. I will order another one with leg rails for the fall too!
You will not be disappointed with this purchase! |

Me too! I love my hotsling. It's much quicker to use than the Bjorn and perfect for quick trips into stores that don't have carts or room for a stroller. Well worth the $15!

Well, I did it... I just ordered a hotsling with the padded rails! You all are SUCH a bad influence on me (hehehe). Now I can't wait until it gets here!

About the hotsling.com-type slings: can they be used in cradle position too?
I have a chubby baby (Michelin baby thighs!) so should I get the rails? TIA! Jodi Mommy to Joshua, born February 2003 |

I don't have a hotsling (I have one that I made), but this type of sling can definitely be used in the cradle position.
With Michelin baby thighs (so cute!), you probably should get the rails. From what I've heard, I don't think the rails on the hotsling add much bulk either. HTH, |

hhmmm I have a nojo with the rails and the rails seem to be the reason it does NOT work for us, so I was looking for an unpadded for the hip position....?
