Default Outfitting a stroller for winter weather

I live in Southern California and I own a Pliko P3. I was thinking about going to Philadelphia, PA this January to visit friends and I'm not sure what to do about my stroller. I was thinking since it might snow I should bring the P3 instead of getting a small umbrella stroller, but I never got any winter stuff for it. I tried seeing if they sell a boot for it but they don't seem to. Is there anything I can get to winterize it, or should I just bring a lot of blankets?

Also, I'm kind of at a loss as to what would be important to bring for travelling by plane (other than car seat and stroller) AND for what to bring for my son seeing as it will likely snow. Frankly, I myself have only seen snow once, how do I get my son ready for it?? :)

Oh, and he'll be a little over six months old when we go. Thanks for your help.

Default RE: Outfitting a stroller for winter weather

You will need to use a larger stroller, the umbrella stroller won't do well in snow. The other thing would be to wait and check the weather. I lived in Philly for 7 years. Sometimes it is totally clear. You will want to get used stuff--check a consignment store since you won't use this stuff again. The Bundle Me or some other fleece cover that fits carseats/strollers will work for you--you need the kind that "fastens" into the stroller with straps. Get a fleece bunting for outerwear. This takes care of a hat and mittens, etc. It is very warm. Lands End or LL Bean or Columbia make good ones. You can get a Prince Lionheart stroller rain cover that is about $15 and will keep wet snow off of you. You also want to think about how much time you are going to spend outside with a 6 month old. I took my son back to Philly when he was 6 mos old in the spring and we still did't go out much. Make sure you have warm stuff or can borrow from your friend--it's not fun if you are freezing. Have fun!
