My dreams of owning a MBUS/MBTS got literally flushed down the toilet last week after a major septic issue! $3,000 later, I have diverted my attention to looking at a lightweight stroller to complete my collection until I can afford my MB.
Here is what I need: My DS is 20 months and weighs about 32lbs or so. He isn't huge but a thick/solid baby. I currently own a P3 that I love but would like to have a lightweight stroller for quick errands. Anything more, I figure I would use my P3. I went to BRU today with a baby in hand and here is what I tried and what I thought. -Maclaren Volo - seemed narrow on DS. His shoulder's were really tight esp with how the seat seems a little farther reclined than the others. Loved how light it is -Maclaren Triumph - seat depth was way to short on him. No room for his butt. Seemed a little better on the shoulders by a touch -Maclaren Daytripper - had a floor model for $95. Seemed a little better on the seat depth than Truimph (Volo was the best) but still tight on shoulders. Any comments on this stroller -Maclaren Quest - Same deal on width (tight), but now I am getting into more expensive stroller. I would figure that if I wanted a more plush stroller I would be using my P3. Or do P3/Pliko owners eventually get an umbrella lightweight stroller and switch over to these when their child is older? In this case I would want a plusher lightweight rather than an inexpensive umbrella? Or do P3/Pliko owners drive them on out until child is done riding? -Chicco London - Better on seat width and even depth but his feet didn't even come close to the footrest. They just hung (for now until he is taller I guess?) but often hit the wheels. Cannot do because of weight limit -Chicco Caddy - didn't even get to try. DS was screaming my then! Ditto on the weight limit So, in a nut shell, what lighweight umbrella that weighs less than my P3 should I get? Does anyone else have children that the Maclarens are "tight" in? Does this get better as they get taller? I don't think I need a canopy - not sure. Any other nice lightweight's with a wider seat? I am so sorry about this long post!! I tend to do this often :) so I apologize in advance! Wendy Mom to Samuel (20 months) and Hannah (7 years) |

Sorry about the septic thing, what a PITA! Thankfully the worst that has happened with ours was minor and fixed easily.
I have found macs for umbrella's have the most roomy seat, my son who is 3yrs and about 34lbs and 36+in tall fits them, he's a solid, stocky boy also :D If you like perego, you maybe should try their aria..it's a touch wider since it's not an umbrella fold..it's not a bad stroller i've owned a couple, i know feelings are rather mixed on them but i do think they are a good toddler stroller... Whether one "switches" over to a smaller stroller depends really..oddly enough i have done the exact opposite...now that ds is 3yrs i only use my MBUS, i don't even bother with the maclarens anymore in smaller places ds will just walk now and when he doesn't i want something sturdy and easy to push hence the mbus. Guess my point is while some go down in size of stroller for toddlerhood, not all do. GL! :) ~Pamela Mom Of 3 http://cmw.dailymoviereviews.com/contrib/fk/bunny.gif |

my 22m ds is about 35lbs, i have a volo, a daytripper and an '01 vogue.
he fits best in the '01 vogue. if you can find one of these i think you'll love it. they come up on ebay frequently. |

I feel like ds is a bit squished into our Quest, but I've only had it in the winter with lots of layers on him! It seems like he is so low to the ground, but he doesn't seem to mind. He is 18 months, 29+ lbs. and and 33+ inches. That said, I love the ease of the Quest. I use it as an alternative to my MBUS for quick trips.
I've also had the PP Aria as a lightweight and didn't love it. I loved how wide and high up the seat was, but didn't love how unpadded and hard to steer it was. |
