I've gotten way too much into this stroller thing! Anyway, I'm just curious as to why many of you prefer the P3 over the Atlantico. The differences between the two really seem minor (JMO). Anyway, like I said, I'm just curious.
I need a new hobby! H- |

I looked at the Atlantico & LOVED it....BUT,
It is huge when it's folded & a bit heavier (not sure of the exact weight) than the P3. I was trying to get a lightweight & downsize from my Graco Quattro, so the P3 made more sense for me. If you are planning on having a smaller, lightweight stroller too...maybe the Atlantico would work for you :-) |

yeah, we're curious about this too. atl. looked easier to use -- bar on top, open access to basket, one handle for pushing -- but someone told my wife and me it wasn't as popular as p3. i know p3 gets smaller, but salesperson told us they weighed the same amount. having never used a stroller before, we have no idea which benefits we'd be happier with: easy access to basket, bar on top and easier pushing, vs. size when collapsed? comments from users would be great, thanks!

I have the Atlantico and it is as close to my ideal stroller as I have found.
There is only about a 1 lb weight difference between the Atlantico and the P3, as I recall. I prefer the Atlantico because it cupholder/snack tray for BOTH parent and baby. I don't like umbrella handles, either, so the bar handle is great. The basket is huge and the "all terrain" wheels are pretty good. The only downside to the Atlantico vs the P3, in my opinion, is that the Atlantico folds larger. That has not been an issue for me personally, however, because I drive a full size SUV. It might be a consideration for some. It is an awesome stroller. I was totally obsessed with strollers before the Atlantico. Now, I rarely visit the stroller forum. I just haven't found a need to shop for another at this point. I do have a Combi Ultra Savvy that I have used for a travel stroller. I also have a Combi Savvy Z that will be put into use soon for super quick trips now that Autumn is older than 6 months. But, the Atlantico is my stroller of choice, hands down. |

Well, I actually went to the perego web site and the main differnce for me that I found was that it says that the length of the Atlantico is 40" while the length of the P3 is 34.5". This was the thing that confused me because on every other site I read it said that the length of the Atlantico was 33.5". So that's why I couldn't figure out why the split for P3 vs Atlantico wasn't a little more even. The weights are about the same and the other things are what I think of as preference-type things (type of fold, basket, handle bar style, and tire size - the tires on the Atlantico are larger - 7 2/3" vs. 6 1/4" for P3).
Anyway, I'm not sure if you need a stroller now or are waiting for an impending arrival, but the only reason I know what I want now is because of what I liked/disliked on my daughter's other strollers (mind you, this was 6 years ago and a lot has changed). For us, it has to be a single bar handle (umbrellas hurt my wrists and DH just doesn't like them and thinks they're harder to steer) plus a few other things. Fold is not a big issue for me since I drive a minivan. Basket isn't a big deal either, but I had umbrella handles before (could hang bags from them) and if we're not getting an umbrella stroller then a bigger/better basket is more important. Lightweight (under 20# for us) is also important. I must have easy steering/manueverability (sp?), but again that's a relative thing I think, but also why we want a single bar handle (just works better for me). Anyway, I hope this helps! H- |

I prefer ergonomic (angled) handles, which the P3 has and the Atlantico does not have (I don't believe). The one handle vs. two handle doesn't matter much to me as long as the stroller steers well in general.

I pretty much agree with everything Gina said. I love my Atlantico don't have a need to get another to replace it. I've been using it for 13 months now - since my son was born.
One thing Gina didn't mention is that the handlebar on the Atlantico is adjustable, so you can adjust it for a taller or shorter person. It does fantastic on terrain - I've had it in the city on cobblestones, jumped curbs, uneven sidewalks, grass, dirt trails with rocks, etc. And it goes great. I think goes over terrain better than the P3 because the wheels are bigger. It steers one-handed great. It does have a larger fold, but since I drive an SUV, it's not an issue for me. |

Thanks for the input everyone! I was briefly thinking about the Atlantico, but when I saw the dimensions on the Peg site and realized it's about the size of my SIL's Milano XL, I realized that it's probably too big for me. I haven't been able to see one IRL, but maybe if I do, I'll change my mind (geez, I'll probably change my mind anyway!).

I don't know how you will feel about this, but I got a graco travel system that was inexpensive as my "first" stroller. Since I knew the Graco infant carrier was the one we wanted, we got the Quattro Tour system. It was 199 for the stroller and seat and base. I got that thinking that I would use it while DD was in the car seat and by the time she was out of it I would have a better idea of what I wanted in a stroller. I had heard of so many people that bought an expensive stroller from the start and ended up buying a second one not too long after. I just figured if that was the case, I would rather "waste" 99 dollars on a stroller than 2 or 3 hundred. So now, after using the graco (which served us well... big basket, cupholders) for 7 months I know what I like about it and what I don't. It helped me make my decision on the P3 and now I have the graco and the infant seat in the attic, waiting for #2 to come around someday.
I don't know if this helped or not, but I just thought I would share. Good Luck. |
