What do you think of putting eggcrate mattress foam in a stroller and cutting out a head hole for a baby with plagio? I have a Boppy Noggin Nest but the baby doesn't like it, probably because it pushes his head out. It occured to me this morning that I might be able to cut a foam pad to fit on his stroller and then cut out my own head hole, and perhaps he'd like this better since his head wouldn't stick out. Assuming I can get it to work with the harness does anyone see any dangers with me doing this?

I think that's a brilliant idea! How old is baby? If really young, I can't think of any reason not to, as long as you're watching that he doesn't face plant into it. If older (4 months?), I'd worry about him eating the foam. (That's what my DD would do!)
Let us know and post pics if it works. Good luck!

Hmmm. Yes, he's almost 6 months so maybe he would eat the foam. That is something to consider. I was also thinking of using the foam just on the seat to boost him up in his Maclaren so the shoulder straps are higher. |

One of my twins had plagio (actualy scaphocephaly). She was in 2 DOC bands from 4.5 to 8.5 months...
You can also use memory foam. However, after 4 months or so, I would just avoid infant carriers/swings/bouncy seats and try to have the baby sit up more and more so hus weight isn't on the back of his head, with or without padding. A Bumbo seat is very helpful at that age. Unless you are also dealing with tort, once the baby is sitting up more you may see improvement. Stephanie |

I wonder if there's a way to use the eggcrate foam to make a back/arm rest so that he kinda leans forward in his stroller and not back on his head.
The hole-in-foam might work for his head for when he needs to be in a carseat. DD slept on memory foam and her head was still pretty flat. I'd suggest trying it with the egg crate first since I think eggcrate is probably lots cheaper than memory foam. ETA: I second the bumbo seat or activity bolster suggestion!

>ETA: I second the bumbo seat or activity bolster >suggestion! What is an activity bolster? I have a bumbo seat and it's terrible. It makes him lean very far forward after about a minute and it also makes him vomit (that could be from his reflux though). |

I think that is a good idea. What I did was take the crib insert with the memory foam and used that. Your option is probably cheaper.
All 3 of my sons had plagio and it does get better with time! Jordana Mom of Daniel 5/17/02 Jacob 4/9/04 Zachary 4/9/04 |

Here's the bolster:
http://www.onestepahead.com/product/...50789/117.html You can also use a boppy to prop him up. Is it the "horn" in the middle of the bumbo that presses on his abd and makes him vomit or is it sitting up in general?
