I want to get a jogging stroller for my husband to use. At the moment I am looking at 2 options. Someone locally has a Koolstride from 2003 for $45, which sounds like a good deal to me--although I don't know anything about older strollers.
My other thought is to look at the Koolstride Gadabout. It is a bit cheaper but looks like it is very good quality. Does anyone have advice on my options? FYI--My husband runs(or wants to run) ~4 days per week and is not a fast runner. Becky Rose |

it sounds like a good deal if it is in good condition. i bought a used koolstride 3 weeks ago for 75$. it was in excellent condition but probably older. i probably should have offered less! i have been happy with it but the harness is a little difficult to adjust. maybe i'm just not doing it right. it is very light which is great. unfortunately ds doesn't like jogging. he screams! he is 13 months and loves his zippy and is fine to walk in the jogger but hates jogging. anyone have any advice? good luck. courtney

I saw recently for the first time a Gadabout. The quality is not even nearly as good as the rest of the Kool Stop family. Even the person at Kool Stop told me that it was made cheap/ more affordable.
The seat is very small - like on the Mountain Buggies. The wheelbase (between front and rearwheels) is much shorter which makes it very hard to steer. So no like a real Kool Stop. My recommendation is that you get the old Senior for $45 and if you really love it, you can start thinking about investing in a newer Kool Stop. Year 2003 was the year the new model came out but I doubt that anybody would sell it for $45 so the one you're looking at is more likely the old version. Kool Stop is coming out with a updated version later this year, so you might be lucky and find the previous version for a little lower price. Although they told me at KS that it's sold out everywhere (Traveling Tikes has it on their web site). If you visit my web site, you can see the older model that I have as a double and the new model that I have as a single. The new model has more rounded features. But as I said on the Swap, the fold is very simple on the old model, too. Susann |

Thanks!
I think you also mentioned that it does not fit through doorways well--which I think will be fine for us. Many used jogging or when going to the zoo. For the price it is probably worth a try. My husband keeps wanting to get a $100 dollar one from Target--so I think this will definitely still be a step up. Becky |

Actually the $100 from Target would be a step down. I had one and it steers awfully. All the weight is on the frontwheel which makes it very heavy to steer.
The Kool Stops are very long and most of the weight is on the back so that you can very easily lift up the frontwheel for turning. Susann |
