Default Zippy vs. Cortina

Hi all,

I've searched past postings and found them very useful, but before I finalize my registry, I have a question. First, there's no way I or anyone who will buy me a gift, even if 10 of them chip in, can swing a top-o-the-line new stroller. If I stay under $200, there's a prayer I can make it work. I want something I can put a newborn in and that will last for a few years--hence I'm down to the Zippy and the Cortina.

I want to direct people to a closeout 2005 Zippy (I keep losing the eBay auctions for the suckers) or a 2006 Cortina, which will be about $20 less. Any thoughts on which way to go? I will have a Graco Snugride that I don't plan on plunking in the stroller much.

This is my first and likely my only baby, so I want to do it "right"!

Ok this may end up a double post cause the first one didn't work. I know this isn't either of the two you mentioned but we purchased a Graco Quatro Tour in Roxy. It goes up to the higher weight standards and heigth. There have been great reviews for them on here minus the weight. I love it and love how it folds onto the wheels so nothing gets on the ground. We got ours at BRU for $139. Also BRU is offering $20 off any stroller over $100 until October 16th maybe? Here is the link...http://www.toysrus.com/shop/index.js...goryId=2255957 I hope this kinda helps and Congrats on your new Baby :)

I like them both, but the Zippy is a much better quality stroller. It is one of the few left made in the west, (Italy), whereas the Cortina is made in China. The seatback on the Cortina is much shorter, and the fold is much more cumbersome. You would probably get sick of it around the time your child outgrows it. The Zippy, on the other hand, will last you for several years.

rachel l.

you can still get the zippy 05 1/2 on costco .com for $239 it has the 06 features but no optional child eating tray to pop in but you can buy it seperatly. go for the zippy i have it and love it it is my one and only work horse so it stands up to lots of abuse since dd has been in it since she was born 2 years ago and looks good enough to use for baby#2 due in febuary. what you can do is ask people to get you a gift certificate towards your ideal stroller. like stroller queen sais get the zippy which is one of the few strollers made in europe including the macs which are made in china since 2001.

Thanks for the feedback! I decided to put the Zippy on the registry. Maybe someone will give me a really generous gift :)

The Zippy is a better quality stroller and will last you a lot longer. I registered for mine in 2004 and it still looks brand new. It was really easy to use with the infant seat attachments and it is so light compared to other strollers. We have also taken it on 20+ plane trips and not a single scratch. Good luck!!

My DH and I are having almost the same debate so this post was very timely. Thanks. We are debating betwen the Cortina and the Boogie. Do the Zippy and or Boogie fit the Chicco Key Fit infant seat?

I looked at a Cortina in my local Baby MegaMart and the fabric on the canopy looked like it was starting to wear. Has any one experienced that?

Is one hotter than the other for baby? We live in Southern Californa and are worried about hot kid! Our first baby is due in January, so we have some time before anyone catches on fire - but that is one of our big considerations.

Thanks again! :)

Hi, I just received an email from inglesina saying that the keyfit is not compatible with the zippy. I am bummed since this is the combination stroller carseat I really was aiming for. I still may get them both or else get the peg perego p3 mt which can use the keyfit... don't know .....

i have heard peoplew on the board say that they have used the zippy with the key fit carseat and i think it is a better stroller to get.
