I forwarned you!!

I am mad...livid...in fact can not think of when I have been more mad recently, and I am certain you all won't think this a big deal...maybe I need to be medicated I am so mad!!!

DH had a college room mate who ended up marrying a reformed very very religious gal. I pride myself on to "each his own"...I am credited by many for not being judgemtnal of others and their choices and for the most part I feel am pretty damn good about that...UNTIL someone judges me and then I'll find everything wrong with them!!!

But back to college friend and wife preaching all of the time. We have gotten numerous letters (xeroxed mass produced) asking for money for some church thing they are going on (though I've never gotten a note about the mission)...and we get literature asking if we've been saved etc...I so bite my tongue but this pisses me off!!!!
I hardly know them by the way they live 4 hours from us and I have met them twice. She couldn't be further from the way I am.

I also have spent my last breath trying to keep my home MY sanctuary...I block telemarketers, I hate unsolicited calls, knocks on the doors...and have purchased a blocker...

Well all week a long distance company called 'Feature Films' has been calling us, it shows on my caller ID so today I answer and this gal mis pronouces my name and then I have to prod her for hers...I then said "get on with it what do you want???" She says "you're a friend of Andrea _______" I said "yes I know her"...then the gal says Andrea gave us your number...again I said "what is this about" she then pressed a button that gave me a taped message asking if I think there is too much porn on TV press 1 for yes and 2 for no. Well at this point it is too late to ask to be put on a "no call list"...so now my number is going ot be sold to every company out there...

I called Andrea and reamed her out!!! Up one side and down the other...I told her I barely know her and for her to think she could pollute my home with this garbage when I have a new baby and all. She said she was promised some kind of toys for her kids for the info!!!!
She kept saying she was sorry and I said that is not good enough I expected her to call that company and rectify that immediatly even if it takes her the rest of her life...

And then I said "don't send me anymore info asking to support your causes...you have yours and I have mine...unless you want me to send you pictures and medical bills of dogs on "death row" that need new homes, vaccinations, spay and neuter etc..." I told her she has her causes and I have mine. And that she doesn't need to ask me to help her with hers!!!!

I am hot over this!!! Steaming!!!

Ooh, Neve, I would be irate too!!

I know that NY has just started a No-Call list, basically compiling lists and lists of numbers that want to be removed from telemarketers. Here is a link:

North Carolina is NOT on the list, but maybe you can start a new cause! Round up some folks and start deluging your local representative with correspondence about this and how NC should be a part of it!

Yuck!!! Pennsylvania now has a nocalls list and we signed up for it the second it was made available! If I want to give to a charity or find out about a particular service, I will do it myself - I do not need to be harassed!!! She at least could have warned you and asked you if she could give out your name and number like that!!!

You have every right to be mad. God I hate when people send me chain e-mails, I can't imagine how I would react if someone gave my number away to some unknown company or flooded me with mail. I am so impressed that you called this person and complained. Good for you!!

So I take it that the invitation to stop by and visit when in Raleigh has been rescinded. We only wanted to spend a "minute" of your time speaking to you about Amway. ;)

You are too nice, I would sign that woman up for every junk porn email site I could think of. I would then find adverts in the back of alternative newspapers that ask the reader to call or write for more info and give them her number and address.

i hear ya about my home is my sanctuary, all uninvited can KEEP OUT! i changed our phone #, kept it unlisted, got privacy manager, i have a 'do not knock' sign on my front door... i have charged out the door to yell at knockers 'do you not know how to READ?'

in fact, when animal control was 'canvassing' to collect license renewal fees, the dimwit banged on my door for 15 minutes at 9am which put my dogs (and me) into a fit of apoplexy. finally, i opened the door in only in my bathrobe, and he tried to force his way into my home and blocked my door so I couldn't close it! one of my dogs got out, and after all the banging, I was afraid she might bite him in such an unusual situation, cause I certainly wanted to, so i got her back inside and shoved him out of the doorway by the shoulders so I could close my door. he told me he was going to have me arrested for assault, and I slammed the door on him after screaming many obscenities. I was shaking so hard. i got on the phone with my husband who is a litigator and I was hysterical, I felt I had been assaulted in my own home, and was about to call the cops. then he came back with his supervisor, who took one look at my 7 mos belly and said "are you pregnant? uh, let's forget about this whole thing". All for $30 I would have sent with a mailed reminder! It took me months to stop having nightmares about it and it still makes me shake with rage. And they still haven't sent me my new licenses. last year they did the same thing even though I had a 'do not knock, sick dog' sign up (she died a month later) they tried to look in our windows and asked our neighbors about our dogs! both times they left a 'bill' for $200 -- because renewals in LA are collected by a contracted 3rd party company, this is how they try to make their own profit -- animal services doesn't see a dime over the $15 per animal! moral of the story -- don't register with animal control no matter how good your intentions.

Anyway, good for you! How dare she give out your number! Good grief, I'd be tempted to go online and input her address on sundry 'offensive' website mailing lists, heh heh... it's small but vaguely satisfying...

HOW ANNOYING!!! And all for a pathetic freaking toy?! Whatever. I am the same way as you are - to each their own. Don't talk to me about your religion and I won't talk to you about mine. But telemarketers. Oh boy. I hate that the worst. I used to have that call blocking thing, but when I got into real estate, i had to remove it, because I couldn't get faxes. I think we'll get it when we move to NC. Whenever someone calls and pronounces our name wrong, we always say either "what are you selling?" and then say not interested and hang up...or I just tell them to take me off their call list.

UGH. But...I also wouldn't have the guts to phone the person and tell them off like you did. You're a good one to have on my side. Whenever I have someone to tell off, I'll just sick you on them. You can call them and say "I am calling on behalf of Tammy", and then go off on them :) Actually, this could be really beneficial. Evan and I are both big, huge chickens when it comes to confronting people!!!

Don't you know in Greenville SC where they live they are performing and excorist to remove satan from me I am certain!!!

I swear I've spent the whole afternoon wondering if I need a dose of some medicine in that this pisse me off so much. I thought is my anger on scale with what happened and I'm still not convinced that it is...

And Flagger you can come by I promise...my door is always open to friends, I love folks coming over I promise...I swear I'll give a person the shirt off my back but when they piss me off they are history!!!...but keep your Amway :)...

I swear I told her if she did not rectify this than i would go and give her number and address to very animal rescue source...

And Zen you and I are in the same boat with the dogs...these sales folks don't realize how traumatic it is to hold back three large dogs attacking the door and steping on my feet and toes...and then they sneak by and you do fear that they will nervously nip because you are anxious, the sales person is anxious...it is very stressful..

I didn't even think "should I call her"...I couldn't get her number fast enough...

NOW GET THIS!!!! she probably gave them my address and they probably know I have a child...and then Steve pointed out they specifically asked me if I knew Andrea and I said "YES" they asked again and I sai "YES"...they can take that recording and slam me with a new telephone service or use that taped "YES" for just about anything...it really is pretty scarey!!!

And people ask ME why I am not using my DD-to-be's real name online? Seriously sorry you went through this. Hope the venting helped.
