Two cans of fish food in the tank. Those poor fish just aren't going to survive.

Amelia sweety mommy really doesn't need this kind of headache. I think it's time to put the fish food in a place that is unreachable. Or at least what you believe to be unreachable. ;)

It usually is. DH and I must not have been paying attention when we fed the fish last night and must have left it on her dresser. The last time I thought it was in a safe place and she climbed up the shelves in her closet to get it so we moved it. Needless to say, I will be more careful from now on.

I realized this morning I had done the same thing, left the fishfood on DS's desk after I had him feed his fish last night. I am just waiting to join you in this club even though I am trying to remember to put the food on a high shelf every time we feed the fish but I am so absentminded lately this is bond to happen to us soon.
Good luck cleaning it all up! Alaina Alex Feb '03 and #2 in Spring '07 |

Oh, poor fish, and poor mom who has to clean up after them. *hugs*
Next time you get an empty food container, maybe fill it half way and use it for the "active" food (and put the rest in a secret and safe hiding place). Then at least if one of you forgets and leaves the food available, the fish will only get half a can. What doesn't kill the fish makes them stronger. Or something like that. :) Jen

Sadly, one of them bit the dust already. I'm going to have to take care of replacing it when she's not paying attention because she's still asking about the last one she killed this way. We keep telling her that it's hiding. I hope the other one makes it. I like your idea of putting a small amount in the can that's stored in her room. We put it on a shelf she can't reach but that way, if she somehow gets her hands on it, she can't do so much damage.

I recommend a child-proof bottle!
If only they made such a thing. I've yet to see any. Saw some my grandmother couldn't open, even a few my mom can't get into, but they doen't do much to slow down the average kiddo. |

The child-proof canister idea got me thinking... could you use an empty child-proof medicine container with the label removed? (That way she doesn't think you're giving the fish medicine!!) Just a thought...

Interesting idea. I think I may have to do that. As far as how many survived, we started with three. She killed one off the first time she "fed" the fish and another one this time. The last one is still alive for the time being anyway.
