Default Follow-up to nursing driver story

I think she got off pretty light. I mean, I'm all for nursing, but common sense needs to rule...And her husband demanded that she nurse her child while driving? I am completely respectful of people's faith and beliefs, and maybe he did tell her to do that, but please don't manipulate your faith to skirt the real issues, and, IMHO, valid criminal action. That baby is lucky nothing happened, what with her nursing, on a cell phone, escaping police, and, oh yeah, driving!!

Okay, so a story of my own.

Yesterday I dropped my mother off at the train station (THANK GOODNESS!!), and a lady pulled in behind me. I am almost positive that I only heard one car door open and close. Which is why I was so stunned to see her walking away in my rearview mirror with a baby strapped to her in a Baby Bjorn!!!!

I was really tempted to say something, and even my mother said I should (like she ever needs to be told to say ANYTHING), but we snooped a bit and saw that there was an infant seat. Also, how could she possibly drive while wearing the Bjorn? No way, right? I had trouble grocery shopping with it at times, and a steering wheel allots you even less space. I'm hoping that I was wrong, and missed the sound of a second door opening and closing. Still, it's amazing how quickly that mama bear spirit got all riled up in me!

Ugh!!! I hate dilemnas like this! DH usually tells me MYOB but I have a hard time doing that where babies are concerned. At the aprtment complex we used to live at, a woman used to put her infant seat FF in the car - I wanted to SCREAM!!! At Liza's preschool, one of her classmates had a harnessed booster. The kicker - while they were actively using the harness for her, they were putting a seatbelt over top of the booster, instead of intalling like a carseat, which is what you are supposed to do when using the harness. Some people really make you wonder...
As far as the driving-while-breast-feeding mom goes, it sounds like her and her partner have definite issues, like her being the sub-servient wife and deferring any and all major decisions to him - WHATEVER!!!! Frustration-nation anyone???

Oooh that makes me mad about the lady with the bjorn and especially that idiot breastfeeding driver. I would want to say something to the lady with the bjorn too but what would you say? I knew about that breastfeeding driver since it was all over the news but I didn't know she was commanded by her idiot husband to do it while driving. Unbelievable!!!!

If it makes you feel better, Dh uses a bjorn and to keep the baby out of the cold in the winter, he would take her out of the car seat and put her in it inside the car. Maybe that is what the woman did.
