Default REALLY boring question...keeping boxes?

I am sitting at my desk next to a big empty box that the Exersaucer came in, a big empty box that the Marathon came in, a big empty box that the shredder came in, etc, etc, you get the idea. How long do you all save this stuff? Saving them forever is not an option for me, no closet space left and I am not renting a storage unit for empty boxes!

I worry that I will find something wrong with the product and will be out of luck because I don't have the box. I thought this was one of those things where it is best to find out what other people do!

That do make a good kitty-cat entertainment station for now :)

It is actually a pretty good question. I have saved some of the boxes thinking that I would get more for the item if I sell it and it is in the box. I don't know if it is true but I personally would be more apt to buy something in the box in great condition.

However, I did throw away the Marathon box because it will probably be too used when we are finished with it. I threw away the Chicco Mama highchair box because it was just so big and some little boxes that I thought did not matter.

I am curious to hear what other people do with them.

Im a huge pack rat I have to admit and keep several things like boxes....one thing that I do to save space though is to totally collapse the box before storing it though. All you have to do is retape it then when you put the things back in. It saves space and keeps the box in good shape. Not only that but as you said...the cats get into everything!

I kept the boxes for things like the swing and then I packed it back up when we were finished and put it in the attic. Car seat boxes I threw away. Electonics I throw the boxes away slowly. My DH is obsessed with keeping all boxes so I get rid of them while he is at work. We do not have room for extra boxes hanging around.

I used to throw all boxes away at once, too many years of city living and no space. My DH is a pack rat and keeps everything. Only recently I starting having a problem with this, wanting to return things, send things for repair, etc.

I try to keep the boxes for somethings that I'm not sure my son will use in case I need to return them. However, no I have my DH trained, and he's been breaking up boxes and putting them out for recycling befor I have time to stash them. I try to put tape on the small consumer electronics box with the date I bought it and the date the warantee expires. That way I know when I can pitch it, because I won't need to keep it after that point. I pitched the car seat boxes, I figured I can always go to Babies'R'Us and get a display box if I really needed on.

I keep all the boxes so I can pack the stuff away in the box when we are done with it. The boxes go right to the attic.

We've kept the boxes for storage later on, and for when we move again. If you want to save space, you could break the boxes down. Of course, all our boxes have spent some time as kitty entertainment, too! :)

OMG, can you train my DH? His favorite trick is to keep the box (like for a large video monitor, or other such IT equipment) and somehow NOT take it up to the attic for MONTHS...Oy!
