Did anyone happen to catch last week's CSI? The story about the parents who thought their child had Tay-Sachs and deliberately left him in the car to broil in the Las Vegas heat? They had already lost one child to Tay-Sachs and this was exhibiting signs of it, but instead of waiting for results, they just gave him cough syrup and left him in the car.
It just brought tears to both Ms. Flagger and my eyes. I know it is only fiction, but I just cannot explain it. I guess it just hit harder after the real life story of the woman in Colorado who had drowned her two kids. We had to both go into Cocoa's room and just hold her and each other as tight as we could for the longest time. |

Oh yes, that one had me in tears!! DH and I just looked at each other in disbelief. I've noticed though, that I've become very emotional when it comes to anything child related, though.
It amazes me how much I like to watch CSI and yet can't stand CSI:Miami! The writing for CSI seems to get better and better each year. Jeannie mommy to Kiki 4/18/03 |

It was the same for us....just too sad to watch without tears!
I agree that we are much more sensitive to babies and children's tragic stories now that we have our own. Sometimes, real or not, I have to switch channels if the show is affecting me too deeply (I end up having nightmares about it). CSI is one of our most favorite shows to watch! But,like many of you, we don't like CSI:Miami! Annette SAHM to Sabrina 6/24/02 |

It amazes me how deeply these sort of child tragedy stories affect me know that I have one of my own. I really see this stuff in a whole different light now. On ER this week they had a woman who set fire to herself in front of her child and all I could think about was how could she abandon her children like that. Locally we just had a case of someone who badly beat his 7 WEEK old son, bruising behind the eyes, concussion, broken ribs, collarbone and wrist. I just can't conceive of how anyone could do something like that to a helpless child. I don't care how angry you are. These stories just make me sick.

We don't watch CSI, but ER has tugged at my and DH's hearstrings several times since having Gannon. Everything changes.

A week after Isabella was born, ER ran an episode where Dr. Green and Dr. Corday's baby girl almost died. I was shaking during the episode:(
I'm sorry CSI that such a bad effect on you.......... |
