Completely OT here, but does anyone know how to get pen out of a microfiber sofa (one of those suede-textured sofas that is a polyester)? Yikes, I can't even blame this one on DS. I don't think there are any pens in our basement.

I had a puppy who chewed an ink pen on my oriental rug. Oooh, it was pretty bad. I used final net hairspray and a towel. Spray the hairspray on and then gently rub with the towel. First test the hairspray on the underside of the couch to make sure it doesn't discolor it. I have always used hairspray on ink stains on clothing and it has worked. HTH

You can also try rubbing alcohol, it usually works for pen marks.

Thanks! I'll give one (or both) of these a try. It's probably pointless of me to try to keep my newly finished basement looking good with 2 kids, but for now, I'm still in fantasy land. : )

I have this EXACT problem - pen on the faux suede couch. I found it last week but haven't yet tried to do anything about it (I keep forgetting). Lisa, let me know if either suggestion works for you.

We just got two microfiber sofas so you are scaring me that you can't get the ink out since they are supposed to be stain resistant. I just looked up ink stain on the internet and it says rubbing alcohol takes it off of surfaces. Don't know how that would affect the material though. I'll see if I still have the swatches for our sofa and try to remove it with alcohol on them.

I haven't had a chance to try yet but I will definitely let you know. I am starting to think that the stores touting microfiber as so stain resistant are full of it. Our couches are only a few months old, and in addition to the pen mark, there is a small greasy stain on one of the cushions that won't wipe off. I asked a carpet cleaner who was here doing other work if he could get it out, and he said "No. We can't clean those type of couches. I could get the stain out, but it would leave a water mark." Huh?? I thought these were supposed to be so easy to clean!
