Here's something that I've always wondered about.
DD rarely if ever gets sick. I nursed her for two years, so I'm sure that has a lot to do with it, plus maybe she is naturally less prone to getting sick. Now I feel silly for asking this, but.. You know how everyone says my dd/ds gets sick all the time, but that's good b/c she's building up immunity for later. Since dd didn't get sick that much as a baby, was she not building up immunity? Didn't she already get antibodies from nursing? I told you it was a silly question, but I've never been able to get a straight answer on this. Kris |

Well, it seems to me that if she has the immunity now that she'll still have it later. I'm not a dr though so will be curious to read other answers because we're in a similar situation.
Do you mind if I add my own silly question to your post??? I've wondered for a while...my daughter has only been mildly sick for most of the last year. For example, she'll get a runny nose and then be done. BUT then I catch whatever it is from her and am knocked out for 2 weeks! If she got all those wonderful antibodies from me, why am I always so sick? |

I have the same question. When my DD weans, should I just make a standing weekly appointment with the ped?

I also find that when she DOES get sick, it's much milder. Maybe she's tougher than the rest of us!
We quit nursing two years ago, and she goes to preschool and still doesn't get sick too much (thus far!) compared to her peers. Did I answer my own question? :) Kris |
