Default Marlon Brando dies

I guess I knew he was 80-ish, but this was still a shocking headline! Wow.

maybe I will get flamed but I actually in no way am shocked that he died, he has had a very hard life, and I normally wouldn't respond like this about a death but I guess I am so not shocked that I was just TOTALLY shocked that our network news broke away from a nice program to tell me of his death. I mean with a war going on and some big news in this world I am totally in shock that they would report "breaking news" during a network show with all f the drums etc to reveal an 80 year old in Hollywood died...

It still is very sad, but I was shocked at that...
and Rachel this isn't in response to your post but to the network that just broke away with this news as if it is so shocking...so please don't take it that way... and your post gave me a chance to share my thoughts on it :)....:)

Neve, my dh had the same reaction.. THIS is now considered BREAKING NEWS? Puh-lease.
No disrespect to the great actor.. but surely, this could have waited for the last one-minute blurb on the evening news. I have lost all respect for ABC.

I agree-- not breaking news material, and not shocking that an unhealthy 80-year-old would die. But when these really legendary actors who have been around for eons die, I do feel kind of shocked. I don't know how to describe it-- it just seems odd and startling that they're not living anymore. (Shrug.)

Well, now I'm so curious to how he died. They won't disclose it. Earlier this week DH and I were watching tv and they said that he had "fallen on hard times". I don't remember which show it was but they said he was pretty broke and living on nothing. I wonder what happened.

I just heard he is $20,000,000 in debt...several years back his son killed his daughter's boyfriend. Years later the daughter killed herself. From what I just heard (and I knew little before this about him) he spirled into a deep depression.

I have not necessairly heard "they won't tell what killed him" vs it has not been released yet, which is not too unusual I don't think.

I mean I have no clue, but he didn't look in the best shape to me for well over a decade so it could be anything.

I saw pics of him when he was 30 and he sure was good looking...

When our news covered it this morning, of course they showed the famous scene from "Streetcar".... STELLA!!!!!! (my) Stella went running toward the tv with a funny look on her face. It was absolutely hilarious!! Knowing how the "news" works, I'm sure we'll catch it again at 6. I'll have to watch just to see what DD thinks....
