Default Excema--soap and shampoo choices?

It seems that my sweet DS has some excema, a mild case, like his Daddy--mostly on his face but occaisionally on his legs. I don't know anything about excema and DH has such a mild case he isn't of much use for this. DS has dry skin and the Ped recommended unscented Dove for his body. What should I use for shampoo? Any other recommendations for soap? I've got some Aveeno shampoo, but it isn't moisturizing per se so I'd like to switch to something more moisturizing. Anybody else have this problem? What do you use?

Thanks in advance!

LOVE the Gentle Naturals line. Target and most groceries or pharmacies like CVS has it. The line is in a kind of teal green box with a red square on it.

They have a great cream in a tube that we slather Sophie with after her baths. Smells SOOOOOO good. There's a baby wash that is also nice.

I generally don't use soap in her baths because it dries out her skin too much, but as far as soap/shampoo goes, we use the Aveeno Baby combo stuff. I can't remember if ours is moisturizing (light blue cap?), but I've had no problems with it at all. Besides, it also smells so nice ;).

For soap, DH uses Dove, and I'll occ use it for DS. But for soap for DS we do Cetaphil cleanser. He's pretty rashy, but hasn't had a problem with J&J shampoo.

DD has eczema. We use Ivory soap (a dermatologist also recommended Dove as an alternative) and then moisturize her with Eucerin after every bath.

Audrey has always had mild eczema (mainly little patches on her underarms & thighs). I've been using Cetaphil as her soap since she was 4-5 mos old, at the ped's recommendation. It's really gentle, and I'm a convert to it--I wash my face with it now.

As for shampoo, I've been using the California Baby shampoo & bodywash combo. I just don't really use it on her body.

Cetaphil as soap and Aveeno babywash/shampoo for shampoo.

We also use Cetaphil for washing DS and Mustella shampoo. It's the only thing that hasn't irritated his skin. We also keep his bathtime under 10 minutes. For maintenance, we put on aquafor right after he gets out of the bath. We went to the derma when it was really bad and he gave us a prescription of aclivate (sp) and we only use this on *bad* breakouts of eczema to clear it up and then back to aquafor. DS scalp got dry a few times and we used neutragena for dry scalp (forget the name) but it cleared it up right away! Let me know if you would like the name.

We used Cetaphil for body soap and shampoo when my DD had eczema. She didn't have much hair at the time, so it worked fine as shampoo.

I tried that Gentle Naturals stuff once, but the fragrance is so strong, I just didn't feel comfortable using it on DD's sensitive skin. So many eczema kids have skin sensitive to fragrances.

For moisturizing, we use Eucerin.

Stace,
Yes, if you can remember the name I would really appreciate it. Matthew still has patches of cradle cap which the Ped says is related to the excema, but his hair is very dry so I don't want to wash it with what I've got...

Thanks!

Okay, it is called Neutrogena Therapeutic T/Gel Shampoo (original formula). I got it at Walgreens. Just put the shampoo on the effected area not all over his head. Rub it in and leave on his scalp for a couple of minutes then rinse and repeat again. DS had dry scalp in the back which was good because you need to keep this out of their eyes. It smells bad but then I washed DS hair with his regular shampoo. It usually works the first or second day. My pediatrician rec. it to me. I had tried other CC shampoos and none of them worked like this.
I hope this helps Matthew!
