Default OT Carpet - Berber vs Frieze

We need to get family room carpet. We were thinking Berber, then found Frieze at a store with an incredible deal ($800 vs $1000.) i like the feel of the Frieze much better. Anyone have any input on either of these? Thank you for your help! Trying to get a good price since closing is this week, every penny counts.

I know nothing about these other than having felt them in a store, but I do remember a thread about carpet where this was discussed and Maureen (khakismom) indicated that she did a lot of research on this before choosing Frieze and being very happy with it. I know she may not be on the boards much these days, so you might want to email or pm her and ask her about it.

Default RE: OT Carpet - Berber vs Frieze

We are currently looking to replace our family room carpet too (as well as an adjoining office). We were considering both of these and decided on freize for a few reasons:
1. a sales guy we talked to (who was actually very helpful and great) told us that if we wanted to resell soon, frieze is better - since lots of people get builders' grade berber, potential buyers see berber and think it's poor quality but would be happy to see frieze (we are not going to sell any time soon, but it's always nice to think of just in case something happens)
2. frieze feels softer and seems nicer for hanging out on the floor with a little one
3. we had berber in our previous home, and I thought it showed dirt more than plusher carpets
4. carpet will have to be replaced relatively soon anyway (ugh), so you might as well go with what's cheaper so you can afford to replace it later when needed

Now we just have to decide on *which* frieze to get and (even harder!) which color!

Glad to see you found a good deal!

Thank you! I like the feeling of the Frieze much better than the Berber, but it is more the unknown right now. I think our decision is made. We can get a better deal AND we can get it within 1-2 weeks from Carpet Mart.
