Default Any tricks to keep your kid from undoing zippers?

With the colder weather upon us, I have been putting Chloe in her fleece onesie pajamas with feet. Problem is she loves zipping zippers and once in a while is half bare when I get her in the morning. Does anyone have any simple tricks to keep the zipper up? The velcro or snap fabric flap on some of them doesn't deter her either. Are there any kind of safety pins out there that are safe enough to pin on overnight? Am I doomed to retire these kind of pj's? Help!!

(I posted this in Reality Layette too, so I apologize for the cross-post.)

TIA,

I use the locking dipe pins from www.kellyscloset.com. I like them and they're not sick expensive. You have to go to the "accessories" part of her website to find them.

Sometimes we put them on the outside of the collar, sometimes inside, depending on whether or not there is that chin flap ;).

The only thing that sucks is putting holes in my beloved Hannas!!! x(

Ditto on the diaper pins and duct tape. :-) Also if they have no feet, I put them on backwards. ;-)
The Gerber diaper pins always worked super well, were very safe, and sometimes I was able to find them with cute animals which was a little fun.
HTH~

PS- Half bare is better than naked. ;-) My godchild used to spend weekends with me. She would wake up, undress, go upstairs to eat breakfast with my folks, come back down in my moms heels, get the tv remote and climb back in the crib. I'd wake to a fed, naked child wearing heels and watching tv. :-) GL~

I was completely cracking up over that too. Not a bad way to live... :P

You guys are totally serious about the duct tape? Man, that stuff is good LOL.

I wouldn't do duct tape. Not only is it a hassle to remove for dipe changes, it will leave nasty sticky residue on the clothes and then your laundry once it melts in the dryer (you can pull off the tape in the morning, but the residue doesn't come off and that's what will get gooey).

I did, however, put Sophie's jammies on backward before the pins came in the mail. That will work only if the footed portion of Chloe's jams is big enough to twist around.

We tried the Gerber pins and they left much larger holes than the Dritz ones, BTW.

Masking tape doesn't leave the same residue, and is a little easier to remove come to think of it. The real thick kind like 2 inch seems to work well for keeping diapers on anyway. ;-) Easy to rip at the sides still for changes. No poop on my walls anymore. :P

Masking tape is also wonderful entertainment for the car on long trips btw. Give a roll, they can stick it to stuff (no books though, that can be a problem), fashion things out of it (masking tape yo-yos seem to be a favorite for my kids), and just have a ball. We actually get a quiet 2 or more hours that way. :-)

Kath-

I think Chrissy is looking to just keep jammies on - not dipes.

One thing we have done is put dd in a Halo sleepsack backwards so that she can't get to the zipper. It works really well and keeps her nice and warm during the night and through naps. Once when dh forgot to put it on her for a nap, I went to get her - she had taken off her clothes and diaper and there was poo everywhere!!!! Believe me, that is not something that we want to have happen again!!!

HTH!
