Default Ideas for hard-to-buy-for-relative/friend gifts?

Especially items that seem more expensive than they are! ;)

Thanks and ho ho ho.

I love giving:

frames

albums/scrapbooks

stationary

top quality coffee or tea and a mug

cookies from this awesome cookie company that is local here

pancake mix, pure maple syrup and a bowl (crate & barrel has some nice bowls for around $15)

chocolate

Personalized bowl or tupperware filled with homemade (or storebought) goodies like cookies, caramel corn etc. I've bought big plastic bowls from Walmart for super cheap and decorated with a paint pen "The Jones" etc. I like that they can use the bowl later for popcorn or other goodies and I've always gotten very positive feedback on them.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

I'm getting all the men in my life the Beer Belt http://www.baronbobgifts.com/beerbelt.htm
Okay, I'm kidding! But it would be a great gag gift for my BIL's!

Julie (jubilee) posted this site www.surprise.com awhile back and it's been helpful (and entertaining!). I'm thinking of doing this photo album for the grandparents (who are impossible to shop for) http://www.personalizedchristmasgift...1102&did=13261

And the more I think about it, the more likely I am to get the beer belt for my BIL's! Yep, I'm getting desperate!

For women, I like the idea of personalized notecards or other stationery. The personalization shows a lot of thought, and it's something they'll use...and it isn't that expensive.

My favorite gift to give when I'm pretty broke is a framed picture of the gift receivee with Martie, or at a special occasion. They are so over come with sentatment that they don't care how much the gift cost.

Beautiful packaging goes a long way. I remember getting something from Red Envelope once. It was not very expensive, but the packaging was so luxurious it made me feel like a queen!

Do you have a favorite site you buy from? I was just looking at stationerystudio and americanstationary this morning at some note cards for gifts.

TIA!
