Default hip, holiday outfit????

DH's holiday work party is being held at a really hip club. I don't know what to wear? I really like the look of the satin camisoles underneath a jacket or cardigan but I don't have much of a chest. I looked at Ann Taylor Loft (online) and nothing looked hip enough. Any ideas? Oh, I don't want to spend tons of money and i am short....5 feet tall. tia!!!

I'm really interested in feedback about this, too -- I'm also short (about a quarter of an inch shorter than you!) and I need a hip outfit for my DH's holiday work party as well.

Help!

Are little black dresses still hip or are they now classics??? I have too much of a chest and could never get away with the camisole fashion either - so who wears those then?

Call me practical, but I would probably just buy a new black dress that is trendy but you can also wear to less hip places.

ETA: How about that Bebe store? I have never shopped there since the shirts look like they could only fit on one side of my chest, but don't they have some cute hip clothes?

Ok, I could be way off, but can you fit into the clothes from Express? I *HATE* that store, but they do have very hip clothing. (I refer to it often as the skinny biatch store! - hence the reason for my hatred.)

Is the party private or will it be held during open hours? That could also influence what you wear.

Good luck!

Candy I just have to say, you crack me up!!!! :)

Christine, if $$ is a factor, I would try Marshall's, TJMaxx, one of those type of places. They have a lot of cute dresses and holiday wear, very inexpensive. It's last year's styles, but who the heck cares?!

Have fun! I actually wish I had a holiday party to go to, I need a reason to get out of my jammies!!

Christine:

Also check out the Limited as well as Express. I just got some slick looking red pants there and I got a free camisole. I need an outfit for my 10 year highschool reunion (which is next weekend!!!). Anyway, the Limited has short lengths in pants, and they have some really great looking tops. I always like shopping at the Limited because they have hip clothes that offer more coverage than the Limited, but isn't old lady like some other stores.

I have about 5 of these camisoles from Arden B:

Long Crinkle Cami - $29.00

They look perfect with my skinny jeans and a blazer. They look kind of trashy on-line, with all the lace, but in person they look more antiquey and hip!
Personally, I like the look of these better with a smaller chest. It's supposed to lay somehwat flat.

Thanks! I will check out Arden B too. I really liked this top I saw at Bebe.com but I didn't like the color.

Candy:

Thank you for giving me the best laugh to start my day off with! Glad to know that I'm not the only one bitter with Express' ultra-skinny fashions!

On a side note, I finally reached pre-Gavin weight this weekend and was feeling so great about myself. I was in Ann Taylor, successfully buttoning up size 8 pants for the first time in almost 2 years when the *biatch* in the next cubicle whines "Oh, no! The 4 is miles too big! Do they carry zeros here?" Talk about deflated ego.

Don't feel bad for me though...I promptly wheeled Gav's stroller over to Mrs. Field's and ate both his cookie and mine!
