Default RADICALLY new sleep patterns at 1 year?!

DS used to take pretty darned predictable naps at both 9 and 1. He then started waking at 5 or 5:30 for breakfast and would then go down for his a.m. nap anywhere from 7:30 to 9:00. That persisted for a few weeks and thankfully, it has passed. Now that he is officially "ONE", though, he is sleeping profoundly at night and we often have to WAKE him in the morning! I know, poor Mamma, but seriously, he still goes to bed at 7:30 and sleeps like an angel. This morning, for example, I woke him at 9:45 because, well, it was 9:45! Yesterday we woke him at 8:30 in order to feed him and get to church by 9:00. Last week I called the ped. and his nurse said that yes, 10am is a bit late for a healthy baby BUT she trusts my good instincts. (Good instincts? I'm a nervous wreck even though he seems very happy and healthy!)

I have no problem changing my schedule to accommodate his sleep needs but I have no idea whether this is healthy for him. Oh, he went down at 1:30 this afternoon and has been sleeping for two hours. By the time he gets up he'll have a snack, play, have dinner and get ready for bed again!

I hope some of you BTDTs will provide some insight into healthy (albeit varied) sleep patterns of 12-month-olds who are teething, crawling and growing but may or may not be transitioning to one nap!

Thanks in advance!
Stephanie
