DH graduated from a BSN program in May and is finally taking his boards Wednesday. He is by far one of the best clinicians I know -- always has been. But he tests poorly. He gets all tangled up in the "fake" answers on big multiple-choice tests like this.
This test stands between us and our family's future. Yes, if he fails he can take it again -- in a few more months! But we really hope he can pass it the first time so he can start working. It will mean TWO incomes for the first time since we got married (I started PA school just after we wed). And after a year of working he'll be eligible to apply for his grad school (nurse anesthetist), and we'll be a step closer to our final, "real" life. This limbo is dragging on and on. So everybody please send good test-taking vibes in the Atlanta direction Wednesday morning! Thanks! |

Good luck to your dh on Wednesday. I think we're in Limbo as well, so I know how that feels. It is nice to know that eventually (even if it's a slow road) we'll be on track, right? ;)

I'll send tons of good vibes. I'm very much in limbo myself, and am fully aware my family's future (near term, anyway) is squarely on my shoulders, I know exactly what you're talking about.
I joke that I want a grown up house, a grown up car... Best wishes to Dh for a good testing day!! e. |

Good luck to your DH! Sending him lots of good test-taking vibes (speaking from the point-of-view of a good teacher but a terrible test taker!).

Positive vibes coming your way!! I vividly remember the day I took my boards- listening to U2 to mellow out on the drive there. It is stressful but tell him to relax and not read too much into the questions. There are usually 2 right answers but one is "more" correct. Makes no sense but oh well. The correct answer is usually the one that involves assessing the patient further! Update us when he's done!!

Heehee....reminds me of how my instuctor told us that it's always the last option to "sedate and restrain". She's obviously never worked in my unit! ;) Good luck to DH on the test!

Good luck to your DH! My DH also has a BSN, though he is no longer working in that field. Even though he has changed career paths, he still uses his nursing skills and knowledge regularly.
We are in limbo as well, waiting to hear about a new job for DH that would involve a big move for us and a big step up for him. All of us limbo residents should form a club! Sarah Edited....because I spelled my name wrong. :P |
