OT: Favorite sites for air tickets??

Any tricks or tips? Where do you usually end up gettig tickets from? I sort of default on Expedia, but I've found them to NOT always be the cheapest alternative.

Lately I usually end up buying from Orbitz. I have also use Travelocity some. In the past I have used lowestfare.com also.

Southwest Airlines is always my first choice. I check their website first as they are not listed on most airline search sites.

Then I like to use Orbitz to check fares, but I book directly with the airline to avoid Orbtiz's stupid fees.

Have you tried Hotwire? My brother had good luck with them. I also used Priceline once and it was okay, but I was *very* flexible about that trip.

I love Southwest (as a matter of fact just earned my first free ticket), but they don't fly where I want to go this time around :(

We've had good luck searching various options at itasoftware.com but you can't purchase tickets there. It just helps you find the cheapest fare and then you can go to that airlines website to purchase.

I've had the best luck at hotwire.com - if your dates are flexible, hotwire does great. Another thing I'll do is check expedia, and then compare their flights to the airline websites, and/or call the airline's customer service, to see if I can get cheaper tix on the same flights, after all, I'd know seats were available ;)

I am trying to avoid this one airline like the plague, and sadly they do have the best prices. By like a few hundred bucks.

We just had another nightmare with them this weekend and I still think I'll bite the bullet and keep my promise of "never again!" :)
