Default I'm knitting, I'm knitting!

I am so excited! I have managed to knit a coaster sized hunter green square! It is actually my third, but it looks decent at least. I am trying to make a baby bib from a pattern I got off the knittinghelp.com site.

Silly thing to be excited about I know. But I am thrilled that I am finally learning how to do this!

Now for purling....I need to have this down quickly, Christmas is coming and everyone is getting scarves! I feel like Mrs. Weasely and her sweaters, lol!

I bought Stich and B!tch too, so that has been helping, what a great book! Thank you Petra for inspiring me to do this with your post a while back, and to all the moms that gave her books and that great web site link!

Cool, wanna show n' tell? I bet in no time you'll be purling like a pro! But stockings? I've been knitting for a while and don't know if i could use circular needles to make a stocking. But purling...that's easy. Check out www.knittinghelp.com for videos of how to do it (either left or right handed). Someone recommended it to me and it's been a lifesaver!

Good luck and see you around the BBB knitting group!

You're welcome :)

And like your family, my whole family is getting scarves for Christmas, too...gotta love constructive hobbies!

Go you!

Yay! I'm starting a Christmas stocking for DS this week (with double-pointed-needles...they're not so scary!) There's nothing like a deadline to get me motivated! :)

A great scarf I made for myself was all in garter stitch, no purling. I used 2 skeins of an eyelash yarn (I used Bernat Boa, but there are other similar yarns out there), cast on 20 stitches, and just knit, knit, knit until I ran out of yarn. Super easy, and I always get complements when I wear it.

Well, I use circular needles for everything but stockings. Stockings and socks really aren't hard. Once you get the first couple of rows going on the double pointed needles, they are very easy. Give them a try!

And Christy, I am glad you are knitting! I love to knit and love to hear about people learning to knit.

Yay, you!!! I've been knitting like a Mrs. Weasley, too. It must be the hormones. ;) Purling is no sweat. S&B should help you out there. Besides a garter stitch scarf is easy and will not roll. A stockinette scarf wouldn't lie very flat without an edging. Happy knitting!

I'm making little clutches for all of the ladies I work with. Here's the pattern:

Nothing like a pregnant woman on the couch knitting :)

Happy Knitting!!!
