I need a new washer and I'm looking at this cool looking new washer by Kenmore. I had thought about a front loader but our laundry room is upstairs and I've read that fl can cause lots of shaking on 2nd floor. The new Oasis is a top loader without the regular center agitator so it can wash comforters. I read a few positive reviews on a laundry board but trust the opinions of Moms here more.Anyone?
Nancy-Mom to 6 great kids BTW I haven't been to the board much lately being my youngest is 3 now but stopped by tonight to ask my question and find many interesting threads. I think no matter how old my kids get I will always come to visit this board. It's great.:-) |

Don't know how new the Oasis is, but you might want to check out Consumer Reports. I know they had many issues with similar machines, such as the Calypso (?).
FWIW, we installed a front loader on our 2nd floor. It is noisy when it spins, but I've really gotten used to it and don't mind it so much. It's right outside the baby's room and while I try not to run it when she's sleeping, she can sleep through it. Not to mention, I got the cheapest Kenmore...one of the higher end models might not be as noisy. I LOVE my front-loader...wouldn't go back to top-load if you paid me. HTH, Jessica |

Do you have it on a pedestal? Did you do anything special to the flooring under it? What do you like so much about the front loader. Thanks for reply.

Sorry...lost track of this thread!
We don't have it on a pedestal, it's just on the floor with the dryer stacked on top. I don't believe they did anything special to the floor...just some concrete and tile. It's possible that some of my front-loader love is actually just love of a new washing machine :) but I like that it uses less water. I think that it's gentler on my clothes and I'm able to use less detergent. It does a great job spinning, too, so things aren't sopping wet when they go in the dryer. A particular feature on my machine that probably has nothing to do with front load is that I can set it for a delayed start. I loaded up the baby's clothes before leaving for work this AM and set it to start at around 4 PM. When I get home, it will have just finished and I can throw everything in the dryer. No soggy clothes sitting around all day! Good luck with your decision! Jessica |
